There’s no denying that wedding venues are so incredibly varied, gone are the days of a Registry Office and Hotel combo for those couples wanting a Civil Ceremony. From woodlands, to tree-houses, fairytale castles to the local pub you can pretty much marry anywhere you wish and with the majority of celebrations following on from a civil ceremony, it’s certainly the popular choice.
But, we know for those traditionalists amongst you there’s nothing more romantic and significant than marrying in a Church on your big day. So with this in mind, we wanted to show you a Smörgåsbord of options from our collection that all have beautiful churches onsite.
We’ve picked just 12 to showcase in this little selection, but if you’d like to instantly browse our full Church Collection you can do so right here.

Askham Hall
A firm favourite, Askham Hall is an exciting wedding venue in Cumbria. The Country House hotel has 15 bedrooms, a restaurant, private gardens, spa and converted wedding barn. It’s style is most definitely luxurious, intimate, unpretentious, up-to-date and full of rustic charm.
Just a stone’s throw from the venue is St. Peters Church; a romantic walk takes you from the church through a secret door into the gardens and onto the wedding barn. 13th Century St. Michael’s Church overlooks Askham Hall, the River Lowther and has views of Lowther Castle, it too is a short distance from the venue.

Boconnoc
I simply love this wedding venue. Boconnoc will actually take your breath away… Trust me. This family-owned country house adores to be filled with laughter, music, love and imagination. When you arrive, the lovely crew hand you the keys and it can be your own haven for as long as you like.
Your Church service can he held in the 14th century Boconnoc Church which is nestled just above the house, with views over the estate it is a beautiful spot to get married. 240 guests can be seated and there is a choir stall.
# 3
Wickham House
Wickham House, a luxurious late 18th Century Georgian Manor House located just outside Newbury in Berkshire is, for the first time, opening its doors to weddings and private events and is set to become one of the most sought-after venues in the UK. After visiting this venue earlier this year I can hand-on-heart say it’s spectacular.
Wickham Church, properly known as St Swithun’s Chapel, is a 12th Century gem built upon a much older Saxon watch tower. The tower, probably the oldest in Berkshire, is one of the best examples of Saxon workmanship in the country and is referred to in many books.
# 4
Oxnead Hall
Close to Norwich and situated in the hamlet of Oxnead in Norfolk, Oxnead Hall is a beautiful Grade II* listed building, perfect for country weddings. Elegant, exquisite and standing proudly in 15 acres of grounds, this is one of Norfolk’s most unique wedding venues.
Not only can you have a civil ceremony at Oxnead Hall (in The Gardens, The Orangery or The Long Room), there is also the opportunity to marry in the beautiful 13th Century Church of St Michael, immediately adjacent to the Walled Garden and hidden away by woodland, or in St Andrew’s in the nearby village of Buxton.

Clovelly Village Weddings North Devon
Clovelly Village is like another world.
This enchanting village of timeless beauty offers a choice of picturesque settings for a wedding celebration – a beach, cliffs, gardens, a Manor house, the Harbour, cobbled streets and a boutique hotel! But my absolute favourite spot is The Great Terrace of Clovelly Court, the ancestral home of the owners of Clovelly.
It offers a marquee space for a wedding party of 200+ guests with views across Bideford Bay and Lundy Island. The Norman church of All Saints is but a short stroll along a tree-lined walk from the terrace and we loved styling the cobbled pathway (as seen in the feature image above!)
# 6
Belchamp Hall
Steeped in History, the stunning house and it’s grounds in Belchamp Walter is the perfect venue for one of the most memorable days of your life.
Just a stone’s throw from Belchamp Hall stands St Mary’s Church. This majestic, 14th century, brick and flint church features lovingly restored stained glass windows, medieval wall paintings and a glorious peal of eight bells. It exudes an atmosphere and splendour that only great and ancient structures can- quite simply a masterpiece.

# 8
Port Eliot
A Port Eliot wedding can be a classical fairy-tale or a story of rock ’n’ roll decadence (or sometimes, a little bit of both). As a private house with extensive grounds, a covetable contacts book and an open mind, Port Eliot provides an unforgettable setting for all styles of celebration.
Adjacent to Port Eliot is the finest, oldest historic church in Cornwall. Once a cathedral and part of the pilgrims way, it is an architecturally fascinating building with a well preserved Norman doorway and Burne Jones windows as part of its fine features.

The house and grounds are offered for couples to use as their own, with a number of options for wedding ceremonies and celebrations inside and out. The local parish church is nestled on the edge of the Homme House estate, while 3 spaces in the house and Homme’s picturesque 17th century Summerhouse in the walled garden are licensed for civil ceremonies.

Froyle Park
Froyle Park blends tranquillity with classic elegance for the perfect country estate wedding. With availability for exclusive use and utter privacy for up to 300 guests, the magnificent Jacobean manor, dating back to 1620, and its extensive grounds, offers one of the south of England’s picture perfect settings.
For the more traditional, couples can exchange vows at the altar in the beautiful St Mary’s village church, just a short stroll from the house. The Church has been on this site for over 1,000 years and it’s beautifully ornate stained glass and 14th Century details create quite the atmosphere. After you’ve said your vows, you can head back to the house as the bells ring out gloriously across Upper Froyle.
# 12
The Tythe Barn
The Tythe Barn is a beautiful 14th Century stone and thatch structure that has been lovingly restored. This stylish venue combines vintage with contemporary, offering a bespoke and professional service. Located in the village of Launton, there is a very pretty 12th Century church, St. Mary’s, which can be accessed via a short stroll through the barn’s gardens. Following your ceremony, you and your guests can wander back to the barn to continue the celebrations!
Lots of love…
