Wickham House, a luxurious late 18th Century Georgian Manor House located just outside Newbury in Berkshire is, for the first time, opening its doors to weddings and private events and is set to become one of the most sought-after venues in the UK.
Easily accessible by air, train and car, Wickham House is just off the M4, 45 mins drive from Heathrow and just over an hour’s drive from London. The car park site accommodates 250 cars. There is also a very regular train service from London Paddington to either Newbury or Kintbury.
Please note there are only two wedding weekends left for 2018 – 4/5th or 10/11th August and 22/23rd September. Wickham House will then be closed for weddings from 2019 onwards.
Wickham House is an exclusive-use, ultra-luxurious venue for weddings and special occasions. Set within 52-acres of idyllic rural countryside and featuring a beautiful backdrop of a 18th Century Manor House, charming church, newly built oakframed barn, magnificent architecturally designed gardens, and an outdoor Pavillion and pool.
Privately owned by the D’Arcy family since 2006, the grounds of Wickham House have been extensively enhanced and expanded in recent years and is for the very first time available to hire exclusively for high-end weddings and special occasions. Wickham House only plays host to just one exclusive wedding per month and couples can hire the estate for a four-day period, with up to 17 additional days for elaborate set-ups and celebrations!
Wickham House presents several options for the wedding ceremony, all within the venue’s grounds. For religious ceremonies the property boasts its own beautifully quaint church located just a few steps from the house and seating up to 200. Civil ceremonies of up to 140 guests can be accommodated within the newly built oak-framed Barn and 190 outdoors within the stunning Walled Garden, designed by renowned architect Robin Templar-Williams.
Wedding receptions will be held within a privately hired bespoke marquee positioned on a picturesque plot of land, flanked by a grand avenue of oak trees. Overlooking the Downs on one side and the main façade of Wickham House on the other, it provides the perfect backdrop for the celebration and photography. Marquees & Tipis are available to hire through Wickham House’s preferred list of partners.
Prior to the wedding day, the Barn at Wickham House provides the perfect space for intimate rehearsal dinners, complete with a large open fire, fully serviced bar and cloakroom facilities. The space is also available as a bridal changing suite.
* * Luxurious accommodation facilities are found just three minutes commute from Wickham House at Sir Peter Michael’s five-star hotel The Vineyard. Alternatively, the sister-hotel Donnington Valley is 10 minutes further and together they provide 160 rooms of a very high standard. During the warmer months, Wickham House can accommodate guests in ‘glamping’ tents within the grounds through preferred partner Zoo Bells to provide a fun, stylish and comfortable sleeping solution.
Exquisite dining is at the heart of the Wickham House experience. Working in partnership with their preferred list of partners, every element of the catering will be delivered with flawless finesse and exceptional attention to detail.
Wickham House have a late license and are permitted to have indoor live performances until midnight and recorded music until 3am!
