An hour from London, but a world away in feel, this is Dearborn Studio’s latest opening — and if you’re planning anything vaguely celebratory this year (wedding, launch, big birthday, “we should do something special”), it’s one to have firmly on your radar.

Because Millbridge isn’t really a venue. It’s more like borrowing a very well-designed country house hotel for the night — only it’s entirely yours.

Originally a 19th-century home, the space has been completely reimagined by Red Deer (the names behind St John, The Gallivant and LIMEKILN), alongside interior designer Helen Pike (ex-Soho House). The result is layered, characterful and confident — nothing shouty, just very, very good taste.
Set in Frensham, Surrey, the house comfortably hosts up to 150 guests, with nine bedrooms, two light-filled halls and gardens that roll out into proper English countryside.

There are nine bedrooms in total, all leaning toward a boutique-hotel feel.
Seven sit within the main house — all en-suite, filled with Studio Ashby fabrics, Studio Humbug wallpaper, and a mix of vintage and custom pieces. There are robes, help-yourself snack baskets, and the sort of details you didn’t know you cared about until they’re there.

Then there’s the cabin.
Tucked into a private wooded corner of the garden, it’s the standout — freestanding bath, log burner, hand-painted Balineum tiles, and a deck overlooking the meadow. If you’re assigning rooms strategically (and you will be), this is the one.
The Lodge, just next door, brings the final bedroom, plus a generous upstairs lounge — ideal for slower mornings or a quiet moment away from the main event.
Downstairs, the house settles into something softer: breakfasts in the dining room, late-night chats by the fire, and a sitting room layered with Beata Heuman fabrics, marble tables and deep, sink-in chairs.

Millbridge really comes into its own when it’s in full swing.
Two expansive halls — vaulted ceilings, exposed beams, huge windows — give you all the space you need to go big, while The Gallery hides a rather good secret: a bar with a backlit onyx front and brass top, made for late-night cocktails. Martini anyone?
Outside, the gardens and surrounding woodland open things up even further. Long-table dining, drinks spilling onto the lawn, or something a bit more structured — it all works.
And then there are the details you don’t always get: dedicated spaces for getting ready, Verde Luana marble make-up stations, proper salon-style hair setups, full-length mirrors (one with a hidden opening overlooking The Gallery), and even a private changing space designed for those “reveal” moments.
It’s all been so cleverly and thoughtfully considered.

Food-wise, you’re in very safe hands.
The in-house chefs build menus around whatever you’re planning — from fire-cooked feasts and generous sharing plates to wood-fired pizzas and more relaxed, family-style setups. It’s flexible, collaborative, and designed to feel like your event, not a fixed package.

Whether you’re taking it over for a day, a weekend, or stretching things out a little longer, the team bring over a decade of experience in hosting and planning — so things run smoothly without ever feeling formulaic.
Alongside private hire, there’ll also be a rolling programme of events open to guests and the public, which is worth keeping an eye on.
