Last Sunday I wrote about The Hub and about how you should (in my humble opinion) attend the next event in November! The June event was for entrepreneurs, dreamers and creators and it was here I met the delightful Kate, founder & designer behind the couture bridal brand Kate Edmondson. Kate shared with me her business, her ambitions and her beautiful designs and well, I wanted to share them with you too…
Kate provides bespoke wedding dresses and hair accessories using luxury end fabrics and trims. Her signature style is understated with a hint of vintage glamour. Emphasis is always on cut and fit using only the best silks and satins. So, if you’re currently looking for wedding dress inspiration to match your impressive venue, read on friends… There might also be a rather special offer to Coco readers!
Kate:
I entered into the world of weddings from a young age, it was my dream to become a wedding dress designer. I attended The London College of fashion and later went on to do my degree in Fashion at The Surrey Institute of Art & Design.
I made the decision to launch my own label, Kate Edmondon Bridal Couture, because I wanted to offer women an alternative to the traditional wedding dress. It was a great time to do so as brides were becoming a little more daring! Disillusioned with the traditional full skirted gown with lace-up corset, I began to develop my own look taking inspiration from the 1930s and 1920s giving it a modern day look!
All of my dresses are bespoke and they are all fitted and cut using traditional couture techniques. I love working closely with my Brides to ensure they’re involved in the process – from design and concept through to the finished product.
Kate’s Top Tips…
I would advise Brides to make sure they do as much research as possible when looking for their dress. Especially when you are selecting the right dress shape for you! You can’t just look at a magazine and make a decision based on this. I would select at least three shapes and try them all on. Once you have selected a shape that is perfect for you, you can then start to make decisions on the details such as fabrics trims etc. I would build a sketch book of ideas and note down your likes and dislikes. This will help you communicate best with anyone you decide to work with to create your dream wedding dress.
Reader Offer!
I would love to offer the lovely readers of Coco Wedding Venues a complimentary headpiece with any dress orders made over £2,000. To discuss designing your dress further contact me on info@kateedmondsonbridal.co.uk or call 07982 877 093.
Ah, lovely start to Sunday right…?
Thank you to Kate for dropping by and sharing her beautiful designs!
Lots of love…
