Jess & Chris’ Grangefields Wedding

Written by Lottie Dainton
They say, ‘when you know, you know’, and Jess & Chris definitely had that feeling when they set their eyes upon Grangefields

There is something so indescribably special about a wedding day that’s overflowing with personal elements, where the celebration itself is the perfect reflection of a love story. And it’s this approach that Jess and Chris took when planning their big day in March earlier this year. From the stationery (designed and created by the bride herself) to the décor, every single aspect of their day was true to who they are as a couple and the experiences, stories and moments they share together. Add in a venue that they both immediately fell in love with and well… that’s one heck of a wedding!

Don’t let us distract you any longer – dive straight into their gorgeous day and indulge in some ridiculously lovely wedding inspiration. P.S – You’re going to find a tonne of details you’ll want to steal for your own celebration. Wedding crosswords, anyone?

Notes from the Bride

Jess says…

Grangefields was everything and more that we wanted from a venue, we loved the grand ceremony room with lots of natural light and although we aren’t religious it had elements of a traditional church like feel. The venue’s vibe was the perfect mix of traditional meets modern. Using local suppliers was important to us and we loved the fact that the wedding venue was down the road from our home!

Oh, the quest for the perfect dress! It took me a while, but I finally discovered “the one” from Eva Lendel. This dress stole my heart with its off the shoulder cut and the amazing feature of an interchangeable overskirt, giving me two stunning bridal looks throughout the day. And guess what? The dress was actually named Jess, which felt like a sign from the universe!

Comfort was key for me, so I opted for elegant slip-ons with a block heel and then swapped to converse with lace ribbons at night. A girl’s got to be comfy, right? To complete my bridal look, I opted for a pearl veil and other pearl accessories, all my jewellery was lovingly gifted by my mum from Lily & Roo. The touch of pearls added a timeless elegance to my overall look. The incredibly talented Amazing Grace took charge of my hair and makeup. Together, we decided on a sleek and sophisticated updo to perfectly complement my dress. It was a match made in heaven.

I guess you could say our theme was, well, “us!” Every aspect, every detail, was a reflection of our shared experiences and cherished moments. It was a true labor of love, pouring our personalities into every design aspect and every thoughtful touch.

As a designer I took it upon myself to create all of the graphic elements for the day myself. Everything was very personal – I designed us a wedding logo that consisted of elements relating to us, the table numbers had facts on about us, we had a ‘find the guest’ bingo where guests won a drink if they got a full house, all of these were personalised to the guests attending our wedding. We even had a giant crossword that I had designed that consisted of questions about us as a couple for all of our guests to fill out.

Our wedding decor became a visual love letter. It was an absolute delight to see our vision come to life, weaving together our love story with elegance, charm, and a dash of playful creativity.

I absolutely adore this story! We chose Johnsons the Florist in Burton for our wedding. They’re a charming independent, family-run business conveniently located across the road from my workplace. Not only have I used them before, but I recently discovered that my Nana and Grandad also trusted them for their wedding over 60 years ago. It’s a beautiful connection that makes our choice even more special.

Let me gush about our incredible photographer, Amy! She was an absolute gem, and the fact that we both work in the creative industry made us an instant match. Amy’s warm and welcoming soul made the entire photography process a breeze. She effortlessly put me at ease, ensuring that every moment was captured with grace and authenticity. Oh, the pictures! They truly speak volumes about Amy’s talent. Each image is a testament to our overflowing happiness, radiating with joy and love. She captured the essence of our special day in the most magical way possible!

Best part of the day

Our wedding day was an absolute dream, surpassing all our expectations in every possible way. There were so many things we loved, but a couple of standout moments truly stole our hearts. The food was definitely up there with one of my favourite things about the day and just enjoying that first meal together as husband and wife surrounded by all of our family and friends is a moment I’ll never forget.

Another highlight for me was the after-dinner wedding quiz, masterfully hosted by our wonderful friend. This interactive and fun-filled activity turned out to be an absolute hit with everyone. Laughter filled the air as guests eagerly competed and shared hilarious moments. It was a such a great way to bring everyone together.

From one couple to another…

First and foremost, remember that your big day is all about you and your partner. It’s a celebration of love and joy, so don’t let the stress monsters steal your sparkle. Take a deep breath, embrace the chaos with a smile, and know that everything will fall into place.
