The Report: A Most Curious Wedding Fair

Written by Emma Hla

If you’re currently in the midst of wedding planning, sourcing suppliers and pouring over inspiration then you’re going to love today’s jam-packed feature! Whilst I was away last month, the lovely Lottie donned the Coco hat and paid a visit to Most Curious, the cool East London wedding fair for the style-savvy couple.

Lottie has written a little report, highlighting our picks and the post has been beautifully illustrated by two photographers we adore – firm fave Heather from Eclection Photography and the very cool Fox & Owl {a.k.a. Chloé & Martin}

So be inspired, pin ’til your heart’s content and enjoy…

A Most Curious Wedding Fair

Lottie:

Described as ‘the wedding show for the style-savvy couple’, I was intrigued to see what A Most Curious Wedding Fair would bring, when I was lucky enough to attend the press preview in London.

Although many wedding fairs can be seen as date and too sales-driven, I had heard that Most Curious was the complete opposite. Nestled amongst tons of quirky, vintage boutiques and restaurants in Brick Lane, the fair was located in an industrial, dynamic floor space in Trumans Brewery. Each stand and trestle table was spilling with creativity, imagination and something a little bit different.

Featuring an eclectic, modern and an on-trend vibe, the fair has become increasingly popular in recent years and I can definitely see why. With a plethora of talented exhibitors, you’re spoilt for choice. From tipis to bow-ties, shoes to cakes, photo-booths to florists, you have everything you need to plan your wedding under one roof.

House of Ollichon

I absolutely adore the idea of bridal jumpsuits and separates. House of Ollichon have got this completely right and they prove that ‘Elegance has Evolved…’

Offering a ‘dress-less’ bridal collection for both brides and bridesmaids, you can choose from a range of chic jumpsuits and gorgeous separates. A model beautifully showcased the Clement jumpsuit, which featured a beautiful, open cowl back and ultra-flattering wide trousers. A black silk waistband finished off the look, creating a stunning silhouette with a subtle nod towards a monochrome theme.

One Flew Over

It was a pleasure to meet the lovely ladies, Charlie and Jess, from One Flew Over, who describe their brand as ‘flowers, by girls who like good flowers’. This dynamic duo create flowers brimming with natural foliage, full of rustic, organic and countryside textures. They offer a bespoke floral design service for couples tying the knot, including bridal, ceremony and reception flowers. I can confirm that they also have the most beautiful floral chair decorations too, so if you’re looking for breathtakingly beautiful floral centerpieces, look no further!

Geo Fleur

This was one exhibitor that I was really interested to see, and I wasn’t disappointed. Specialising in beautiful, botanic styling and geometric homewares, Geo Fleur is the perfect alternative to traditional wedding flowers and décor. The stand was kept minimalistic, with terrariums filled with cacti and succulents hanging from copper vases. If you’re planning a stylish yet simple wedding with maximum impact, Geo Fleur would suit your day completely, and you can guarantee it would wow your guests!

Sincerely May

I had a lovely chat with Cathryn, owner of stationery company Sincerely May. Cathryn’s gorgeous collection is modern and unique, with the aim to reflect your personalities as a couple, whilst giving your guests an glimpse of your special day. From geometric designs to floral details, there is a collection to suit every couple.

Abigail Design

Your wedding stationery should narrate your love story from start to finish – and this is exactly what Abigail Design does. From watercolour stationery to laser cut wooden place names, there is an abundance of imagination in everything that Abigail creates and a huge amount of choice.

Ivy Pip & Rose

Rebecca, founder of Ivy Pip & Rose, was kind enough to chat to me about her floristry business. She explained to me that flower crowns are still seriously on-trend for 2016 whilst succulent-based bouquets and cacti centre pieces are big news this season.

Monti

Monti, a geometric lifestyle brand, is all about shape and space. It is undeniable that the combination of geometrics and air plants teamed with copper and brass are a huge trend at the moment – and this has recently become prevalent in the wedding industry. Everyone seems to be considering the ‘botanical theme’ for their wedding day, and Dee Monti’s free standing cacti or hanging succulents are the perfect addition to your day.

AM Faulkner Bridal

London based milliner, Ann-Marie Faulkner, showcased a stunning selection of hats, headpieces and breath-taking veils. Using a range of different materials, from copper to lace, AM Faulkner is able to create a masterpiece for the fashion-forward bride. Following the ‘geometrics-inspired’ theme that was apparent throughout the fair, I was a huge fan of the incredibly striking Brass Geo Headpiece. This brand is definitely something to be excited about…

The Charming Press

There really is something quite wonderful about holding a beautiful piece of high quality paper, and I am sure I can’t be the only one thinking that. Stationery company, The Charming Press is just that – absolutely charming! The collection is a range of typography and illustration that comes together to create a quirky, yet beautiful product. So if you’re into quality stationery, don’t forget to check them out, you won’t be disappointed with their range of products.

Wildflower Cakes

I have to say, I spent a large amount of time perusing the Wildflower Cakes table, and even now I just can’t get over how beautiful their wedding cakes were! A beautiful, watercolour hand-painted cake with anemone-inspired details literally took my breath away. So if you swoon over pastels, flowers and butterflies these cakes will melt your heart. I can also confirm that they are extremely delicious!

Fox & Owl Photography

Chloé and Martyn, the wonderful pair behind Fox & Owl, are two extremely talented wedding photographers. Although relatively new to the wedding world as a duo (Fox & Owl launched in March), the couple have a wealth of experience behind them; Chloé has been photographing for 4 years and Martyn has actually been a full-time wedding photographer and musician for 7+ years! I took a look through their portfolio and it is truly stunning.

Lorie x

Inspired by all things romance, Lorie x features both wedding gowns and bridal separates that are feminine, unique and completely romantic. Lorie x is the perfect option for a modern bride looking to make a statement with their aisle style.

A Most Curious Wedding Fair was extremely refreshing and I left feeling incredibly inspired, rather than overwhelmed. One of my favourite parts of the fair was the fact that every supplier was supportive of one another. So if you’re looking for a wedding fair that is going to inspire your wedding planning, don’t miss Most Curious!

Until next Spring…
