I have a major crush on loft style spaces so when I came across the JJ Studios portfolio back in 2015 I knew I had to have them in our collection. More than that, I knew I had to shoot in one of their spaces.
Tropics in the City was born and we chose Wimbourne House as our base. It’s still one of my favourite shoots we’ve worked on – bold, bright and sexy it shows you how to add the current trend of brights and greenery to a wedding. But today isn’t about this shoot or this look, it’s about showing you how versatile a blank canvas space can be – in particular Wimbourne House.
Wimbourne House is home to one of London’s premiere photographic studios, located in Shoreditch. When I first visited, I knew this space was something very special indeed – a blank canvas London wedding venue like no other.
Back in November I attended The Hub held at Wimbourne House, a fabulous day for wedding entrepreneurs to gather, learn and meet. It’s always such an honour to be invited to this event and the lady behind it, Kiki-Sunshine Boonwaat, is just an all-round beautiful person.
Kiki had curated an incredible team of suppliers to style the space for the day – rather similar to a wedding set up there was an area for the speakers to address the audience (ceremony!), a gorgeous gathering of trestle tables for our delicious lunch (wedding breakfast!) and even a little spot for photos and chilling (party!).
The colours, florals and overall vibe were completely different to how we used the space and I was utterly smitten with it all. Delicate, pretty and soft, the palettes worked perfectly with the rawness of the venue.

Are you newly engaged…? Is getting married in London your dream, but you don’t know where to start planning…? If the answer to both these questions is unquestionably yes, then we’ve got some good news! To illustrate the full potential of Lindley Hall as a wedding venue, Royal Horticultural Halls will be hosting a showcase event this autumn designed to help you get ready for your big day!
The Royal Horticultural Halls Wedding Showcase Event
The Royal Horticultural Halls’ sparkling wedding showcase event is taking place on Saturday 1st October, from 11am to 5pm, and entry is absolutely free. Visitors will get the chance to experience demonstrations of lighting, draping, furniture and floral designs that are designed to provide inspiration for brides and grooms to be.
In addition to being able to explore the venue and its facilities, guests will have the chance to talk to their events team and suppliers. As such, you will get the opportunity to ask them questions and conduct thorough research into all the options that they can make available for your special day.
The North Annexe of the Hall will also be dressed as a night garden, plus a cocktail bar and various dining table arrangements will be set up to present an impression of what the venue looks like once wedding celebrations get into full swing!
A Beautiful, Versatile Wedding Venue in Central London
Located in the heart of London, within walking distance of Victoria Station and just a short drive from many of the capital’s most prestigious hotels, The Lindley Hall at Royal Horticultural Halls is perfect for hosting spectacular, grand-scale weddings.
Offering 875 square meters of customisable space, capacity for up to 450 guests, state-of-the-art light and sound systems, and a wide-range of on-site facilities, the Hall can be fully customised to meet whatever your heart desires. Meanwhile, the venue’s Edwardian features and stunning glass-vaulted ceiling offer the ideal backdrop for those all-important wedding photos.

If you’re currently searching for a true industrial space with enough white walls to be classed as a ‘blank canvas’ then friends, you can stop the search…
We’ve long been fans of the Hackney Venues collection and in particular The West Reservoir Centre in East London. This sailing centre features a 1930s red-brick tower boasting fascinating structural design elements, flooded by natural light.
Today we’re showing you how to use the space and style it with a chic but industrial vibe thanks to a whole team of talented suppliers including Hannah Charlotte Weddings, Bow & Beau, Catherine Short Floral Design, Oh Wonder Calligraphy and many, many more.
Thanks to Bai & Elle Photography for capturing all the gorgeousness and of course the mini-film, which is definitely worth a watch!
Industrial, Crystal Chic Styled Bridal Shoot
Meg & Marni:
We collaborated with Hannah from Hannah Charlotte Weddings and Claudia from Bow & Beau to come up with a fantastic concept that would inspire contemporary brides. We went for a soft, feminine inspiration shoot with a modernised twist. Rose Quartz, Copper details, geometric shapes and contemporary bridal wear, teamed with luscious florals and complimented by a cool industrial style wedding venue.

I have total wedding envy…
The simple colour palette, the glittering shoes and silky mermaid gown, the stunning stationery and of course the sophisticated surroundings of Morden Hall.

Notes from the Bride
I found my dream dress at Pronovias at their flagship store in London. The dress is called Celmira, and it’s from their Atelier range. Celmira is a satin, mermaid-style gown with subtle lace appliqués on the sides of the skirt and embellished with gemstone embroidery on the train. It wasn’t the easiest dress to get into, and relied on streams of double-sided tape and bit of wizardry from my maid-of-honour to keep it in place, but once it was on it felt like a dream!
