“It’s as if Dewsall is in a pocket all of its own radiating warmth and sunshine even when it’s raining; it’s an ancient magical pocket which is kind, caring and welcoming…”

Dewsall Court is a venue like no other. With sustainability at its core, the idyllic estate is nestled within the stunning Herefordshire countryside, offering a unique experience and stay exclusively yours. For romantics and adventurers, Dewsall provides exquisite accommodation for up to 28 guests, an ancient Church, a purposely renovated party barn with a custom ‘night sky’ inspired dance floor, bar, magical grounds, orangery, secret cellar ‘After Party Den’ and so much more such as Dewsall’s famous striking sunsets!

Notes from the Venue

Samantha says…

The phrase ‘hidden gem’ is often used about Dewsall because that is precisely what it is – shhh!

Driving down the leafy lane with spectacular mountain views, Dewsall is at the very end — hidden away. I love those magnificent views which change with every season – each having its glory, which I never tire of; they are a tonic of calm, serenity and strength. It’s as if Dewsall is in a pocket all of its own radiating warmth and sunshine even when it’s raining; it’s an ancient magical pocket which is kind, caring and welcoming.

Interiors, textiles, art and interesting objects have always been a big interest for the whole family, which has resulted in ‘treasures’ brought back from far-off lands, interesting antiques and much-loved artwork with many stories and memories attached. There is a perfect mix of old and new with unusual, quirky fabrics, wallpapers, and bespoke carpets – nothing is standard or ordinary about the interiors of Dewsall. Every room and bathroom is different, exuding its own charm and character. Guests have said that Dewsall is stylish and has enough grandness to be special but not too much that you can’t kick your shoes off— I would say that’s mission accomplished!

It’s hard to say which is my favourite room at Dewsall because, from dereliction to the family home to life as an events venue, each gorgeous room has had different reasons to love over the years. However, as a family for whom cooking and socialising are at the heart of their identity, I must say that the kitchen is key. Flanked with warmth with an Aga at one end and a large open fire at the other, it is the place where families and friends congregate time after time if walls could talk! A close runner-up would be the conservatory, which used to be our sitting room when we lived at Dewsall as a family. It is utter heaven to look out over the formal gardens, pleasing with symmetry, joyful with colour and nature’s creation! We serve all our house guest feasts here, and the many doors lead you right into the grounds, which, at the right time of the day, are bathed in the golden light of one of Dewsall’s famous sunsets.

“A Dewsall wedding is a fully immersive experience meaning this is no quick in and out wedding factory situation, but a truly indulgent stay where friends and family flock to celebrate your wedding.” – Samantha, owner.

Dewsall combines a sense of special occasion, an escapism from our everyday lives, a romantic backdrop with a feeling of calm, relaxation, down to earth enjoyability. Rooted in nature, working with the seasons, consideration for the earth and a team who genuinely go above and beyond for their couples means that you can honestly expect high things from Dewsall. From the dishes we create to the gardens we tend, we do set our bar high because this isn’t just any old special occasion. This is a moment of enormous life shift, and we feel privileged that people choose us as their place to mark this.

As such, we put everything in to fulfil that to the standard our couples, their families and friends, and frankly, we expect! That’s why our guests find it hard to leave or return as soon as possible when we do our popup events, and there’s nothing we love more!

There are many celebrated options within the grounds where you can say those all-important words ‘I do’, including the ancient church at the end of the garden and our stone, wooden pillared Wainhouse or various rooms in the house such as the Chinoiserie which is perfect for smaller weddings. However, suppose couples are looking to have an outdoor ceremony. In that case, we have our beautiful canopy, which can be set up on the West Lawn overlooking the incredible views of the Duchy land and the Black Mountains, or there’s the enchanting temple garden, the woodland garden or the lakeside. Not forgetting our spectacular tree house, the options are endless.
