10 Iconic Wedding Venues in Devon

Written by Lottie Dainton
If you’re looking to get wed in Devon, whether that’s because you were born and bred there or you’ve simply always loved the thought of tying the knot in the countryside, you really will be spoilt with choice.

This South West county is graced with every style of wedding venue you could possibly imagine – from grand manor houses, rustic barns, woodland glades and cool coastal locations. To help you shortlist the perfect setting for your wedding day, we’ve put together a mini guide to 10 of Devon’s most iconic wedding venues.

We’re *very* excited to share our collection with you, so let’s get started and get scrolling…

Pynes House

Ah, Pynes House – cue a romantic sigh and wistful daydreaming. This luxury country house wedding venue has been a part of the collection for several years now and it’s been an absolute joy to witness its gallery expand over the years and to see the venue develop. Believed to be the inspiration for Barton Park in Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility, Pynes House is rich with history, abundant with romance and renowned for its exquisite celebrations. The Ballroom offers a truly elegant space for both your ceremony and reception, while the extensive gardens and grounds ensure all your outdoor needs will be met – not to mention the endless photo ops! Plus, you have the bonus of accommodation and the option to extend your wedding over a weekend.

This gem also made our Bridgerton inspired venue round-up for obvious reasons!

The Deer Park Country House

The Deer Park Country House is the epitome of a quintessentially English country house. This Devon wedding venue is known for its show-stopping Georgian Orangery, with floor to ceiling windows that overlook the Italian Garden. The house itself is an elegant combination of contemporary design and characterful features, teamed with exceptional hospitality. With a ‘made-to-measure’ approach to weddings, the team will work collaboratively with you to ensure you have the day you’ve always wanted.

Do check out their website, it’s very, very cool.

Tree Top Escape

A hideaway haven perched above the trees; this really is a Devon wedding venue like no other. Surrounded by rolling hills and patchwork fields, Tree Top Escape is exactly that – a chance to escape the hustle and bustle to celebrate your love for one another. The perfect choice for an intimate wedding for up to 14 guests, elopement or even your honeymoon. Follow the romantic wooden walkway up to The Nest with a frameless glass balustrade and wide glass doors, where you’ll feel like you’re floating above the countryside. A wedding venue that’s beautiful in all seasons!

Brickhouse Vineyard

Located just 20 minutes from Exeter, Brickhouse Vineyard has the benefit of both the beauty of the countryside and ideal links to the city. Designed with elopements and intimate weddings in mind, the venue is set within 20 acres of fields and woodlands, where photograph opportunities are never-ending! The barn is the latest addition to Brickhouse vineyard, with an open vaulted roof, exposed oak beams and modern architecture. Spend the day dining in the Round House, wander through the wildflower meadows or steal a few moments together walking hand-in-hand through the vines.

If you want to get to know this venue in a little more detail, then you’ll love this focused feature.

Ugbrooke House

Located within a 3,000-acre estate in the Devon countryside, Ugbrooke House will be exclusively yours for the entire weekend. Boasting sweeping lawns, formal gardens and the dreamiest outdoor ceremony space, this is the ultimate weekend wedding venue in the South West. Available for a limited number of weddings per year, this private country house will effortlessly suit any style of celebration, whether you want something outrageously extravagant, or understated and intimate. You can spoil 24 of your guests with accommodation, courtesy of their 12 luxurious bedroom suites, all of which overlook the grounds of the estate. Let’s not forget their in-house butler and private chef… What’s not to love?!

Gara Rock

We’re channelling all the cool coastal vibes thanks to Gara Rock Hotel, which is perched on a secluded clifftop across from Salcombe. The first thing you’ll notice about this Devon wedding venue is its views – we challenge you to find something more breath-taking! These guys are anything but ordinary, and the team will work closely with you to create a bespoke wedding day that could only ever belong to you. Outdoor blessings, live music, dancing on the terrace – whatever you envision, they’ll make it happen. Get us to the beach!

Hareston Manor

A new and exclusive wedding venue in the South Devon countryside, Hareston Manor offers not one, not two, but five exquisite wedding ceremony locations for you to tie the knot. Whether you picture saying, ‘I Do’ as just two, or you want a larger celebration with up to 150 guests, the team will make sure you have a stylish celebration with all the trimmings. For couples considering an outdoor wedding, you can choose from a selection of stretch tents, marquees, yurts and tipis. Or enjoy the manor house and its manicured gardens – there are so many options available.

Hotel Endsleigh

Nestled within fairy-tale woodland, beautiful gardens, follies and grottos, you’ll find Hotel Endsleigh, a Grade I Listed historic house. It maintains its original character and features, including hand-painted wallpaper, inglenook fireplaces and a wood-panelled restaurant. The team are extremely flexible and will be able to offer you a number of lovely locations for your ceremony and party, to suit any wedding size! The gardens lend themselves to tonnes of beautiful wedding photographs, as well as a marquee if you fancy a celebration that’s a little bigger! We are officially smitten.

Tunnels Beaches

The beach wedding venue of dreams, Tunnels Beaches is located in Ilfracombe in Devon. This stylish glass-fronted setting is surrounded by rugged coastline, crashing waves and panoramic views. It is home to a thatched gazebo that overlooks the sea (outdoor ceremony goals right there), as well as the function room that looks onto the garden – perfect if the British weather doesn’t play ball. If that’s not enough to tempt you to the sea, they have a semi-resident Seal who adores showing off to guests when the music is playing!

River Cottage

River Cottage is where your country wedding dreams will come to life! You’ll get to enjoy the entirety of this Devon wedding venue (that does indeed include Hugh’s kitchen if you’re wondering), with some of the yummiest grub you’ll ever eat. Here, you’ll have beautiful scenery, views across the countryside and a tonne of rustic romance to get swept up in. Your guests will make their way in their very own tractor trailer, before being welcome with a warming cider brandy, which will be followed with a feast of a reception in the threshing barn.  For smaller receptions, the farmhouse is a lovely space for an intimate ceremony and dinner for 20 people. We adore River Cottage and we know you will too.
