Industrial Wedding Inspiration - Derby Wedding Venue

I’m so excited to be showcasing this ultra new and über cool wedding venue – The West Mill. Not yet open, this venue is the newest kid on the wedding block! An industrial dream located on the river banks of the ancient River Derwent, The West Mill is due to launch Summer 2015.

However, patience is not always a virtue, especially when the owner, his photographer and his venue stylist simply couldn’t wait to show the space off! So, rather than wait until the building project had been completed, they organised a rather beautiful styled shoot to show off the space as it was in January of this year…

Darby & Joan: The Midlands has never seen a wedding venue like this… Dating back to the early 1800’s, a World Heritage site and originally built as a cotton spinning mill, this building, The West Mill, played an important part of the industrial revolution.

The venue is currently undergoing a huge restoration and refurbishment project with work due to be completed Summer 2015. The striking industrial history of The West Mill provides a memorable setting for weddings and the renovation will retain the historical architecture of the 1800’s.

Exposed brick walls, original blue black brick tiled floors, cast iron beans and a unique cast iron ceiling together with their handpicked pieces of furniture and décor offer a truly unique venue filled with character and atmosphere.

Occupying a superb setting on the riverbanks of the ancient River Derwent and the waterfall over the historic weir, The West Mill is set over four floors and will be licenced for civil weddings and wedding receptions. Rather marvellously, this is a no corkage charge wedding venue, giving you the option to supply your own daytime drinks without any charge!
