Modern Wedding Films by This Modern Revelry

by Emma Hla
Film & Images by This Modern Revelry.

We’re crushing on This Modern Revelry, simply press play on any of the films below and you’ll see why.

Husband & wife-to-be, Laura and Alan, are fresh on the cinematic wedding scene and they create films that are fun, personal and well, just a bit cooler than the rest.

Their ethos is ‘Love Like Hell Yeah’ which means a no holds barred, fearless love with just a little bit of rebellion! They specialise in cutting together a film that’s interesting, engaging and has a cool vibe but still getting in those little moments that’ll bring on the cry-face whenever you watch it.

If that all sounds like your kind of thing, then read on to discover this awesome couple in more detail. Oh and look out for info on their ‘All the Details’ package as you can claim 15% off if you book before the end of February for your 2017 wedding.

Notes From This Modern Revelry

Laura & Alan:

We’ve been together for 7 years and are getting married ourselves this year (whoop!) at one of Coco Wedding Venue’s recommended venues no less. We definitely wouldn’t describe ourselves as traditional – in life and in business.

Our words to live by are ‘Love Like Hell Yeah’ – love that doesn’t apologise, is a little bit wild but most of all is modern love. This Modern Revelry exists for people who don’t want shot after shot of ‘this happened, then this’ but want to capture the feeling of the day: the fun, the style, the details and most importantly – the party. With a vibe that’s more at home in a music video than a party political broadcast.

Laura’s worked in wedding styling for a while now but if we’re completely honest, being videographers wasn’t something we planned on doing as a business. We’ve always been big fans of filming things in our own lives (our camera graveyard is a who’s who of old, abused, broken, crappy camcorders) but never really thought of it as something we’d pursue professionally, never mind as a business together!

We were visiting some friends in the run-up to their wedding in the US when they spotted how much we were filming everything and asked if we’d be up for filming their wedding. We’d been scrambling to decide on a gift for them for a few weeks (sorry guys!) and figured that giving them a wedding film would be the perfect way to avoid that awkward arrive-at-the-wedding-without-a-gift moment.

We spent the day absolutely in our element (even though we were rushed off our feet – it was 100% the best wedding we’ve ever been to). About a year later and a few more films down the line and it’s really snowballed from there. The only bad part of it now is that we’re getting enquiries for weddings that sound completely off the chain but we’re having to turn people down because we’re already booked!

Right now we love the amazing growth – when we first started This Modern Revelry we knew that very few people in the UK offer what we do – creating films that are a bit (read a LOT) cooler than traditional filmmakers with more of a lifestyle focused narrative. While there are different styles for different couples – and that’s great – we’ve just had an explosion of clients this year, which is amazing and means we’re riding the forefront of a new wave of media. People are coming back to film big time and it’s exciting that couples getting married are really digging our style.

We’re really lucky to be filming for some pretty cool couples too – with warehouse bashes, super stylish shindigs and modern minimalist weddings on our books for this year. That’s what we’re all about. Not to mention we get to hang out together, for work!

Our films are about being part of it – part of your once-in-a-lifetime, never-forget-it, singular-moments-in-time and telling that story. So, if you’re planning a creative celebration in a warehouse, a modern NYC loft-inspired shindig, a party bash in a museum, windswept vows in the wilds of Scotland, or a kinfolk-inspired boho gathering with ALL the macramé… we want to capture it!

The Packages

We’re all about being up-front with our prices so everybody gets a fair deal. We’ve got three different packages to suit everyone;

All The Feels

3-5 Minute Highlights Film » This is the one you’ll want to watch again and again. The best bits. The fun. All the feels.

All The Details

3-5 Minute Highlights Film + 10-15 minute full film » If the highlights film is all the feels then the full film is all the details. The longer film means we get to show even more of the awesomeness that is your wedding.

All The Laughs

3-5 Minute Highlights Film + 10-15 Minute Full Film + Vows and Speeches » The literal whole shebang. Remember all the things you said to each other and all the laughs and tears that came with it.

We freaking love to travel so if you’re getting married somewhere awesome and want us to come with let us know and we can figure out a special quote.

All films are provided on a USB and highlights films can go online for you to share how awesome your day was. Both of us film all day at your wedding and highlights films come with web-sharing licensed music (so you’re not gonna get hit with any hefty fines from Bey or her people).

Advice

Here are our tips for those of you looking for a videographer;

  • Focus on how you want to remember your day. Communicate your vibe to your videographer (and photographer… and guests too!) – it’s so much easier to give everyone a head’s up rather than find you’re getting super traditional things happening on the day when that’s not up your street.
  • It’s common for couples to have an amazing day but then to look back and not be able to remember about 60% of what actually happened. It’s all about translating that feeling you had onto the screen so you can watch it forever. So pick someone who you feel can give you that.
  • If you find a videographer whose work makes you feel like you were a guest, that’s a good sign that they’ll be able to capture the vibe of your own wedding.

Coco Exclusive Offer

For any couples booking before the end of February for 2017 we are offering 15% off. Get in touch with the code CWV+TMR through our contact form or on info@thismodernrevelry.com.

Also, if you’re getting married in Iceland, Morocco or the Scottish Highlands hit us up. We’re always adding to our bucket list of shooting locations and might be able to offer a special deal!
