Modern Prairie with World Inspired Tents

The theme for last years spring event was Modern Prairie – a British modern take on the American mid-west prairie boho trend – and Yeti Photography captured some of the styling on the day.

Jo says…

The inspiration for the shoot began with the idea of creating a scheme for the tipis which would work with the wonderful natural glow and light that is created inside through the tan coloured canvas.

The design concept was to use a warm palette of coral, terracotta, dusky pinks and browns to echo that prairie vibe but mix in some gorgeous luscious dark greens for the maximum impact against the colours of the canvas. To add to that mid-west feel we used lots of lush foliage but also worked with pampas grass, dried flowers and cacti.

The centrepiece for the ceremony was Knots & Kisses’ triangle frame decorated with wonderful foliage and flowers by Brompton Buds and an aisle of pampas grass, jute rugs and lanterns, from Keeping It Vintage and benches strewn with sheepskins. The entrance to the tents was decorated with amazing potted palms in terracotta pots from Fusspots.

The look for our bride and groom was casual and with a slight seventies vibe. So a sharp suit but without a tie for our groom, all from The Grooms Room Plymouth. Our bride wore vintage from Days of Grace, with Emmy London shoes. Her hair was tied up with a striking headscarf by Giselle Michel Gendre and make up was in keeping with the colour scheme with a palette of corals and browns by Jasmine Elle Make Up.

Beautiful boho rings added to the look from Erin Cox Jewellery and the Molten Wedding Ring Company. We also had a gorgeous bridesmaid for our ceremony shots with a striking floral hairpiece from Brompton Buds and a simple dress from Mango.

A big feature for the wedding was a statement hanging table plan from Knots & Kisses as you entered the tipis in shades of coral, pink and terracotta. The graphic style and typography brings a modern edge to the rustic boho vibe.

The tables were dressed with natural wood and fabrics and a mix of cacti and floral arrangements with statement peacock chairs and fabric backdrop for the bride and groom. Beautiful bespoke napkins from Beyond Vintage were knotted and the natural fabric worked as a great contrast to the modern graphic stationery by Knots & Kisses. For the ‘after party’ the bride got changed into a looser lace dress with brown leather accessories and cowboy boots.

There was plenty of chill-out space under one of our World Inspired Tents ‘little hats’ perfect for that extra bit of space. In the evening rattan furniture, from Virginias Vintage Hire, plants and twinkling glass baubles created the perfect chill-out space indoors around one of the fire-pits.

Photographer Vince from Yeti Photography worked beautifully with the gorgeous light in the tipis to create a warm and atmospheric feel, and really made the most out of the amazing firepits.

A stunning display of rustic but modern cakes finished with beautiful coloured buttercream was created by Edible Essence and added the perfect finishing touch to the day.
