Louis & Georgia’s Kingston Estate Wedding

Written by Emma Hla
Today we have a minimal rustic wedding at the incredible Kingston Estate in Devon. Louis & Georgia instantly fell in love with this country house and it was the perfect backdrop to their elegant-meets-peaky-blinders big day!
Notes from the Bride

Georgia says…

We fell in love with Kingston Estate from the minute we saw it. It had elegant rooms and beautiful scenery. We just knew it HAD to be there.

My dress was one of a kind and the complete opposite of what I had imagined I wanted in a wedding dress. The lady who did my alterations spent six months hand sewing the hem to fit me perfectly. We also added sleeves as I was a little worried about getting married in October and feared I would be cold. It turned out to be glorious!

My husbands suit was a little ‘Peaky Blinders’ and the bridesmaids all chose the way they wanted their multi-way dresses to be worn. My hair stylist was my very good friend Matt Milford and it was amazing to have him in the morning with me. We laughed and joked, but he was a great calming influence too. There were also a few emotional tears.

My florist was Flower La Vita, in Cockington. We planned most of the florals together but she surprised me with my bouquets in the morning. We chose a lot of foliage which was sourced locally.

We didn’t give guests favours, instead we donated to charity. A charity that is very important to us. We tried our hardest to support the environment in our décor choices and wanted this to reflect in our wedding.

Pickle Shack were our caterers and they did an amazing job of creating a menu to suit all dietary needs. I wanted locally sourced products and we spent a long time perfecting the menu, meeting with Jodie and having taster sessions and importantly adapting my vegan dish. If I had it my way I would have had an all vegan menu but my husband was having none of this!

I wanted my photographs to have a really natural feel to them. Jennifer Jane Photography captured all the emotions from the day and between Louis and me as well as all our family and friends. She really was everything that we could have wanted.

Best part of the day

The church was terrifying.

I thoroughly enjoyed the speeches, the men did a brilliant job of getting everybody laughing and they were really personal and fun stories for all to listen to.

I enjoyed arriving to the venue, in our vintage car. It was the cars last wedding as it was being sold. It was a family friends business so it was lovely for the venture to end with our wedding.

The first dance was hard, as we both don’t like to be in front of people, however the band (also a friend) adapted a Calvin Harris song we first met to when watching Calvin Harris in Spain.

From one bride to another…

Don’t let wedding plans overwhelm you. It really won’t matter to you on the day. You will naturally smile, but be relaxed and take in every moment.
