Hidden within the South Hams countryside near Totnes, Kingston Estate feels both grand and deeply relaxed. The Georgian mansion house, built in 1735, brings together high ceilings, marble fireplaces and original wall paintings, while the surrounding 35 acres invite guests to settle in and make the estate their own for the duration of the celebration. Across the grounds, spaces unfold naturally from one to the next: south-facing walled gardens, a rustic ceremony barn, a courtyard cocktail bar and a vaulted basement made for late-night dancing.
The estate balances historic character with a more free-spirited atmosphere. A huge party yurt, street food shed, and Hayloft Barn with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the gardens and countryside create a setting that can easily shift from black-tie elegance to festival-style celebrations. Wherever you are on the estate, there is a strong sense of privacy and space, with Devon’s rolling landscape never far from view.
Ceremonies at Kingston Estate can take place in several distinct spaces. One of the south-facing walled gardens offers an outdoor setting surrounded by mature greenery, while the rustic ceremony barn, lit by eight chandeliers, brings a softer and more atmospheric feel indoors.
Because the estate is exclusively yours, the day can move at its own pace, with each part of the celebration flowing naturally through the grounds. Whether couples are planning something formal, relaxed or somewhere in between, the setting adapts easily to different styles and scales of celebration.
Receptions at Kingston Estate are designed to feel immersive and unhurried. Drinks can begin in the courtyard cocktail bar before guests move through the gardens, into the Hayloft Barn or towards the yurt and street food shed as the celebration unfolds. With capacity for up to 200 guests, the Hayloft Barn offers expansive countryside views through floor-to-ceiling windows, creating a striking backdrop from daylight through to evening.
As night falls, the atmosphere shifts again. The vaulted basement becomes a space for music and dancing into the early hours, giving the estate a completely different energy after dark. Throughout the day, the weddings and events team remain on hand to coordinate details and work closely with planners or suppliers, ensuring everything runs smoothly without losing the relaxed feel that defines the estate.
Accommodation across Kingston Estate has been carefully restored with a focus on original features, thoughtful interiors and comfort. The main house, cottages, and converted barns sleep up to 100 guests in total, allowing friends and family to stay together on-site and fully settle into the weekend.
Hot tubs are dotted throughout the estate, adding to the sense of retreat, while generous on-site parking and an overflow car park help keep guest logistics straightforward. The scale of the accommodation also makes the estate well-suited to longer wedding stays, from pre-wedding gatherings through to slow mornings after the celebration.
Food and drink sit at the centre of celebrations at Kingston Estate. The estate has built a strong reputation for seasonal menus shaped around quality ingredients sourced from local farms and suppliers who share a commitment to environmentally responsible practices. The approach feels thoughtful rather than trend-led, with an emphasis on flavour, provenance and generous hospitality.
Drinks receive the same level of attention, from carefully balanced cocktails to eclectic food and drink pairings designed to suit the tone of each wedding. Whether the celebration leans towards refined dining or a more informal festival-style atmosphere, the experience remains highly personal and rooted in the estate’s relaxed approach to entertaining.
Seasonal ingredients and locally sourced produce form an important part of the estate’s approach to food and drink. Kingston Estate works with farms and suppliers that support sustainable and environmentally responsible initiatives, focusing on provenance, integrity, and quality throughout the menu planning process.
This ethos runs through the wider experience too, favouring considered sourcing and long-standing relationships with local producers over passing trends.

Kingston estate took our breath away when we first saw it but nothing prepared us for how it was on our wedding day! Everything was perfect, the staff were so friendly! The venue was the perfect backdrop and had so many options our guests loved being able to move around and get a different vibe for each location at the venue. We feel so blessed to have had the opportunity to have our wedding there! It was a dream come true!
We wanted a venue that would let us be us, that didn’t make you feel like the next couple on the package wedding conveyor belt in at 8am and guests out by 12pm. We wanted to make it all last as long as possible. Kingston Estate as a venue has a class and vibe all of it’s own and when you add everyone you love to this it’s just the perfect match. We got married on August 17th and the comments and praise we have had from guests re the venue has been out of this world!
The fact that we could have the majority of our guests stay on site with us all weekend was a huge selling point of Kingston for us. The venue is beautiful and all of the rooms/cottages are finished to an equally high standard. The food was AMAZING and they catered for all of the dietary requirements our guests had with no queries what so ever. The weekend went without a hitch with all of the staff working so har behind the scenes so that we didn’t need to worry about a thing.
We chose Kingston Estate for the venue and on site accommodation. One of its really unique characteristics which made our wedding was the ability to hold our special occasion across several spaces including the yurt for the night before, the main house for our wedding drinks and canapés reception, the barn for the wedding breakfast and the undercroft for the party. Everyone was blown away by this as each area was unveiled! A fantastic wow factor venue with incredible service. A must have!
Kingston Estate made our wedding so spectacular it was like a dream. Everything ran smoothly, everyone’s needs were catered for and the whole presentation of the venue was very impressive. My husband and I were extremely proud to be able to hold our wedding at such an elite venue. All of our guests were taken back by the level of service, the venue itself, the grounds, the food and the location.
We can currently sleep 86 guests on-site in our Georgian manor house, luxury barn conversions and quintessential cottages.
We have a fantastic dedicated catering team who work with us here at Kingston to create your own bespoke menus, they have a brilliant worldwide reputation, however we are happy to allow food trucks as part of the wedding if you desire.
We always offer couples exclusivity as part of their 2 or 3 day wedding so that you can do finishing touches the day before, welcome friends and family over dinner and drinks and stay overnight to make the most of your special day.
We don't offer set prices or packages here at Kingston as we believe every couple and wedding is unique, however as a guide for an exclusive use weekend wedding prices start from approximately £15,000 to include venue hire, drinks during the wedding day, and a bespoke weekend menu for you and your guests staying on-site.
The estate is 40 acres in total so there is plenty of space for a marquee if you would prefer to have one, however with five unique function spaces across the estate you shouldn't need one.
