Into the Woods with Wilderness Weddings Kent

Written by Emma Hla

Wilderness Wedding Venue in Kent opened its gates over a gorgeous weekend of Autumn sunshine at the end of October, they were bathed in warm sunshine all weekend! Alongside welcoming their newly-engaged couples, they had created a beautiful styled scene that was captured by Matilda Delves.

Today, owner Anna is talking us through their gorgeously boho styling…

into the woods

Anna:

The focus of our shoot was the magnificent tipis standing in a woodland clearing surrounded by ancient oak tress, silver birch and wild ferns. This magical area has views out over the pretty wooden bridge across Wilderness to Deerson Lake and, as the sun goes down, the most incredible pink skies are highlighted by the autumnal mists.

We were inspired by the amazing autumn we have been lucky enough to have – the majestic trees decorated in their copper, chestnut and golden leaves and the wonderful long skies we have in Wilderness.

Hire-Love provided some brilliant vintage props including a rare, double peacock chair, wooden trestle tables, large antlers, copper candle sticks and goblets, vintage crockery, terrariums, tea lights, an antique chandelier and sumptuous furnishings. Gwenda from her own Bohotanical provided some fab wilderness inspired creations for the tipis and reception areas of the venue.

Elly our model has a totally natural and pure look and so barely needs any make up. Her Titian like auburn hair worked perfectly with the natural autumn colour around her and as the sun set on the tipis we soaked in this amazing rich russet-red evening light.

We wanted the colour palette to be fairly muted – allowing the innate beauty of the woodlands, the dappled light and the long golden grasses of the meadow lead the way. The colour of the tipis work perfectly within the woodland setting and guests attending a lakeside ceremony here get to catch the first glimpse of the tipis as they wonder back across wilderness and into St Mildred’s Woods.

The style of the shoot is a combination of boho and rustic, festival and woodland. We like to call it Boho Luxe.

The Venue

At Wilderness Weddings Kent, there’s room for two huge kata tipis in a wonderful clearing in St Mildred’s Woods: surrounded by huge old oak and beautiful silver birch trees. We will have the outdoor licensed area by the wild flower lake approved in the New Year and at the same time the amazing woodland cabin will be licensed. This cabin has fantastic views and is filled with light – ideal for photographs as the sun goes down and for a chill out area as the celebrations go on.

We have made a lovely double wooden love swing at the top of the hill with views out over the rolling green valley and there’s a wooden bridge which crosses the stream between Wilderness and St Mildred’s woods. There are lots of handmade wooden benches and tables strategically sited around the venue so guests can meander through the woods. We also have the brilliant Champagne shack rustic bar, made from up cycled locally sourced wooden potato crates.

We’re really excited about our new woodland wedding venue and would love to welcome you.
