Elope to Pauntley Court

Written by Emma Hla
There’s something ridiculously romantic about the thought of running away with your favourite person to get wed, isn’t there? Pre-Covid, we were seeing an increasing number of couples swapping a larger celebration for something more intimate. But now, with the current guidelines allowing for a ceremony and a reception for up to 30 guests, many more couples may be changing their plans – as we saw just this weekend with the wedding of HRH Princess Beatrice & Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.

A smaller wedding, whether that’s just the two of you or a handful of your loved ones, offers a totally different experience. It focuses on moments that are full of meaning, away from the hustle and bustle of busy life, allowing you to slow down and truly savour every second. Today we’re introducing you to a very special venue, Pauntley Court, who host this type of wedding and we think you’ll love it.

Notes from Pauntley Court

Melissa says…

Pauntley Court is our beloved family home in the Cotswolds, and it’s at its best when it’s full of love, memories and the magic of those ‘happily ever after’ moments that never seem to get old, no matter how many times we see them. We wanted this editorial to showcase just how beautiful an elopement or smaller wedding can be, and we welcome couples who are after an intimate setting to say, ‘I Do’ here.

With its sumptuous furnishings, rooms filled with trinkets and treasures and ‘home from home’ atmosphere, this Gloucestershire wedding venue offers an unforgettable backdrop to your big day, without the need for too much décor and styling. The Ballroom is one of the most-loved parts of the house, with its serene atmosphere, grand piano and large windows that overlook the grounds and gardens. The space lends itself perfectly to an elopement or intimate gathering with your friends and family. It’s filled with light and the size of it feels personal, with a blank canvas base that you can really make your own.

This editorial was the epitome of quintessential English romance with an essence of wild abandonment, thanks to our incredible team of suppliers on board.

The bridal look was timeless with a subtle dash of drama. Sally Chilman at Hill Bridal provided ‘Deirdre’ by Maggie Sottero, which featured the most exquisite lace detailing, full-length sleeves and a skirt that is just made for twirling. It was thoughtfully accessorised with hair jewellery from Poirier, which encapsulated the romance and elegance of Pauntley Court. Genevieve Turley, a cruelty-free make-up artist based in Worcestershire, wanted to create a look that complemented the style of the dress and the setting for the shoot. Her work is all about enhancing natural beauty and creating timeless make-up looks that never go out of style.

Floral design by Rebecca Kate Flowers featured Pampas grass, greenery and roses in dusky pinks and soft ivory hues. The nude colour palette was the perfect match for the Ballroom, offering our couples an insight into how understated floral styling can transform a space. Combining elegant roses with fresh florals and foliage helped to give a wildly romantic vibe to our shoot.

Winner of ‘Best Wedding Photographer in the Cotswolds 2017’ Pixie Abbott Photography was on hand to capture the editorial on camera, unravelling the romance of an elopement at Pauntley Court.

For those who are fans of bringing their four-legged friends along to their nuptials, you may have spotted the two dogs in our editorial. Pauntley Court is a pet-friendly wedding venue and as we offer a bespoke and personal service, we very much welcome you to bring any additions to your day so that it really does feel like your celebration.

You are able to hire Pauntley Court, along with our onsite accommodation, over three days during the week or at the weekend. Our friendly, professional team are dedicated to ensuring you have the day of your dreams, whether you want to elope or adore the thought of a micro-wedding.
