We have a wonderful styled shoot for you today from a host of talented South West suppliers curated by the Blue Fizz team! But first, we want to bring to your attention the reason behind this celebration of gorgeousness – the totally fabulous BOHO and RETRO WEDDING FESTIVAL at Bridwell Park.

This event is happening this month over Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th April and it’s set to be a unique and very stylish weekend celebrating all things fabulously Boho and Retro. Attending this festival means you get a chance to visit Bridwell Park, a beautiful Georgian House which has recently opened to the public following a stunning renovation. There will be private tours of the house available which is set in 120 acres of Devon parkland and home to Lord Ivar Mountbatten.

As if the venue wasn’t enough to entice, there will be goody bags and giveaways galore, a showcase of Wedding Marquees, Tipis, Domes & Yurts (including our fave picks World Inspired Tents and Baya Hire), Boho & Retro inspired music and entertainment, a pop-up hair and beauty boudoir, the Barefoot Catwalk, a Grooms Room, a Glamping Village and various talks and demonstrations!

Entry is free via ticket and you can pre-register at Eventbrite: BoHo and Retro Wedding Festival.

So back to the shoot! With all things boho in mind, the team wanted to showcase this relaxed style with a little touch of luxury. Bridwell Park, with its stunning surroundings and unique chapel, was the perfect backdrop! Plus the colour palette in this inspiration is perfection – I’m currently crushing on plaster pink in a massive way so my heart has been truly stolen.

Notes from Blue Fizz

Blue Fizz:

Our seating and tables were supplied by Emma at The Great Event who sourced some fantastic chairs from an Indian cinema alongside rustic wooden trestle tables. I fell in love with them and they worked brilliantly with the palette of plaster pink, navy and browns and the perfect contrast to the Lux look that we combined around them.

I dressed the table with Bridwell’s own crockery and satin napkins and oversized ties in hues of duck egg and green with the addition of feathers. The chair backs and table were decked out in volumes of greenery by our florist Emma at Brompton Buds who combined the plaster pink colour with the most beautiful roses and trailing vines.

Emma also brought along the metal pillars that worked so well with the chairs, these we used to line the aisle in the chapel where the tall flower displays added drama and opulence to the whole scene.

Our National award-winning cake designer Jennifer at Edible Essence Couture Cake Co created three equally breathtaking cakes again echoing our colour scheme and showcasing her talent with intricate sugar flowers and contemporary finishes.

Our stationery was provided by Lyndsey at Anon Designer, I selected a strong design with simple details that worked with the bohemian feel. The addition of a little sparkle really bought these inline with the whole look of the day.

Our groom wore an eclectic mix of navy velvet, mustard tweed and greys from Samuel Daw & Co in Barnstaple. The slim line trousers and silk cravat gave this edgy look a contemporary and very wearable feel.

Our bridesmaid on the day wore a selection of bespoke flower crowns from Dinah at Flora Bella that worked perfectly on our models tumbling hair. The bridesmaids dress was provided by Linda at Days of Grace who has a treasure trove of vintage pieces from every era you can imagine and always something unique!

Our bride and bridesmaids make-up was done by Genevieve Satha who worked to give them both a cohesive but individual look. We opted for a fresh warm look which Genevieve achieved with strong and dramatic impact on the lashes! Our hairdresser Brigitte Fisher created a soft tumbling curl on our bride and bridesmaids hair for the effortless boho vibe topping off the brides hair with the addition of a vintage headdress from Days of Grace.

The bride and bridesmaids both wore handmade jewellery from Jacqueline Ashworth, I loved the simplicity and high quality of these pieces perfect with any outfit but they look delightful on a bride and a great suggestion for bridesmaids gifts.

The incredible brides dresses were provided by Pirouette in Exeter. I selected both dresses as they were in every way exactly what I think of for boho with a dash of refinement. The main dress was embellished in gentle beadwork and a detailed back. The second look for the day was a cotton lace backless dress that had a grand silhouette and a modern feel. Briggite created a relaxed up-do for our bride to continue the rest of the celebrations into the evening with a classic but laid back look.

This styled shoot inspiration takes some elements of luxury such as fine dining, floral opulence and designer pieces and works them in with some rustic features and the eternally popular boho trend. The subtle and varied colour palette works on hues rather than a limited shade enabling you to be able to bring eclectic items together as one theme. We had a great team to bring all of this together to inspire you and spark your own ideas.
