Nicole & Sid’s Festival-Style Wedding

Written by Caitlin Hoare
As winter settles in and January starts feeling very January, let us transport you to a warm July day filled with love, pizza, ice cream and a lot of laughter.

Nicole and Sid exchanged vows in the idyllic outdoor setting of Browning Bros’s Chalkney Water Meadows location. Captivated by the natural beauty that enveloped the entire place and situated miles away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, their pontoon ceremony overlooking the water and surrounded by their loved ones made for a truly idyllic wedding setting.

The rest of the festivities unfolded in true festival style: cue mini golf, woodfired pizzas, and an ice cream van, which delighted their guests no end, creating an atmosphere that echoed the carefree spirit of summer days. As the sun dipped below the horizon, they partook in some dreamy golden hour snaps (complete with a champagne spray!), and the fire pit illuminated the evening’s celebrations. Their day is authentic, vibrant, and wholly reminiscent of a fun-filled summer festival… let’s dive in!

Notes from the Bride

Nicole says…

We chose our venue due to the natural beauty of the whole place; we felt like we were miles away from anything, and the pontoon was a dream!

The dress was the only one I told my Mum I loved without even thinking about it; it felt like I had never felt before. The suits Sid wanted were natural fibres with a hint of green to match the natural vibe. The bridesmaids were given free reign of style, but all had a complimenting colour to match the aesthetic. That morning, the hair was a last-minute decision, and I am so glad we made it!

We wanted orange/yellow tones with greens and lots of natural, rustic elements to match the venue yet something unique and unusual. We wanted it to be as laid back and eco-conscious as possible. It all felt so bright and so “us.”

We put off looking for a florist for a long time as we needed to figure out where to start with what we wanted. But as soon as we met Chloe from The Copper Cacti and her love for sustainability and uniqueness, she drew us in! We both love our plants and to be able to keep parts of my bouquet (the succulents) forever gives us so much joy. She is just bloody amazing.

We chose Cacciatores Pizza as we had tried their pizza previously at a local motor show and fell in love! They were so thoughtful and friendly, a genuine family-run business.

We stumbled across Jess Soper Photography on Instagram and fell in love with her style of photography. We had a Zoom call and just gelled straight away. We knew we wouldn’t feel awkward with Jess in front of the camera as she immediately made us feel at ease. She was so helpful leading up to the day and, on the day, was a superstar with super talent!

BEST PART OF THE DAY

The best part of the day was walking down the aisle and seeing all our favourite people with my one true love staring back at me. The ceremony was perfect; that first kiss as husband and wife was magical.

FROM ONE COUPLE TO ANOTHER…

Things will be what they will be in the day; you cannot control everything, so you must go with the flow (even if it’s tough!) and be grateful for every moment.
