A Wedding in Nature at Sandon Manor

Laid-back, natural, effortless and a little bit wild…

Jacinta and James chose Sandon Manor as the backdrop to their late-May wedding day. This Georgian mansion in Hertfordshire offers couples the perfect balance of luxury meets laid-back. Sip cocktails in their formal gardens but then head to their areas of rewilded countryside for photos; indulge in a fine dining meal mid-afternoon but then hang out with your mates and eat wood-fired pizza in the evening.

This kind of blend is what a lot of modern wedding couples are after these days, and who can blame them? So, with that in mind, have you considered Sandon Manor for your big day? If not, let us tempt you with this dreamy spring celebration…

Notes from the Venue

Holly says…

Jacinta and James made the most of Sandon Manor’s natural areas when it came to capturing their special day. The abundance of cow parsley in bloom in our rewilded areas provided the perfect backdrop to the couple’s photos. 800 acres of the Sandon Manor Estate have been rewilded into nature reserves which increases biodiversity, making Sandon Manor a truly environmentally sustainable venue.

Jacinta’s wedding dress was by Lillian West via The Wedding Room was romantic and fresh with new lace fabric featuring organic detail to reflect Jacinta’s love of the natural environment. Makeup by Melissa J complemented the bride’s overall look with a natural makeup finish.

The groom wore a wool suit in a natural green and brown weave which complemented the natural country theme perfectly. James and Jacinta chose matching Rayban sunglasses to wear during their sunny drinks reception on the stunning lawn at Sandon Manor which was a fun and stylish addition to their outfits.

Jacinta grew up in Ireland surrounded by natural environments, therefore being in nature was an important part of their day. The family came from Ireland with homemade mini honey favours for all, whilst Jacinta and James had lovingly made homemade limoncello shots. Delicate stationery, rust coloured napkins and burgundy water glasses all complemented the natural environment theme so well. The overall vibe was laid-back, natural, effortless and a little bit wild.

The bride’s floral vision was very natural with a country feel in the colour scheme of orange, coral and tones of pink. Jacinta worked with Amelie Floral Design and chose seasonal flowers in a beautiful, bright colour palette including pops of yellow and lime green. This vibrant meadow-style worked perfectly with everything else but it was the coral charm peonies that were the stars of the show! A perfect choice for an end of May wedding. Miss Piggy roses and fragrant apricot stocks also featured within designs blended with daintier stems such as scented sweet peas and jana spray roses.

The cakes were from Lola’s Cupcake and the catering was provided by Cambridge Dining Co. The couple sipped on Aperol Spritz with their friends and family during the drinks reception, after which CDC served guests a delicious three-course meal featuring a starter dish of Burrata with Heritage Tomatoes, Roast Suffolk Chicken with Potato Dauphinoise and a Pea & Pancetta Fricassee for main course and a decadent Raspberry Crème Brûlée to finish.

Stacey Anna from Northern Ireland was the photographer on the day. Stacey’s beautiful photography, natural, sophisticated approach, and love of the wild complemented the couple’s style and our venue really well.

Best part of the day

James and Jacinta chose Sandon Manor’s natural rewilded areas, filled with wildflowers and trees to capture the most natural, beautiful and romantic couple shots.
