Cosy Barn Wedding Inspiration at Alpheton Hall Barns

Written by Caitlin Hoare
We’ve got cosy, rustic wedding inspiration galore today – from a beautiful tablescape layered with texture to an eat-me-now grazing table, earthy rose-heavy florals and a broken arch ceremony backdrop packed with foliage.
We love this showcase of Alpheton Hall Barns, a romantic, characterful venue like no other, set in the rolling Suffolk countryside. Over to florist and stylist Nichola from Ivy Green Flowers to tell us the story behind this inspiration shoot, featuring a gorgeous real model couple.
Notes from the Florist

Nichola says…

The styled shoot took place at Alpheton Hall Barns, Suffolk. This rural setting has a wonderful calming and warm ambience within its historic barn. I really wanted to capture that warmth and atmosphere to create a romantic and cosy wedding vibe.

Inspired by the practice of hygge we wanted to create a cosy and relaxed impression with lots of romantic and soft lighting. A neutral colour palette worked well to complement the character of the barn with hints of burnt orange to add some extra warmth. I feel this style is fitting for an autumnal or winter wedding, creating that cosy and relaxed atmosphere to enjoy with your wedding guests and each other on your special day.

Our real couple Faye and Joey wore gorgeous dresses provided by Erin Kelly Bridal. A stunning beaded dress Anya gown by Karen Willis Holmes and a beautiful soft flowing dress by Willowby Galatea in Titanium. Makeup by Joely went for soft and romantic makeup with neutral tones for a natural glow and Little Fires Studio provided pretty earring in gorgeous earthy tones to complete the look.

For the décor and styling we used soft candle lighting and the hanging ladder lights within the barns to enhance our romantic and cosy design.

The grazing table by My Olive Tree Pantry looked so inviting and plentiful. The sharing platter looked like a design feature in itself and decorated the tablescape with tempting pieces and sumptuous colour. A simple, rustic cake and favour biscuits with the orange icing really helped to add some extra orange hues.

I have styled Alpheton for many weddings and felt for this styled shoot I wanted to add some luxury and create an atmosphere in keeping with the barns natural beauty.

As a florist my emphasis was on natural earthy tones, I wanted the floral designs to be abundant with lush foliage, beautiful David Austin Roses and subtle pops of dried flowers and grasses for some texture. I wanted the bridal bouquets to look and feel luxurious and timeless with plenty of roses and eucalyptus. The broken arch design adds that wow factor but also creates a real intimate space within a large barn venue, softening the ceremony area. The table garland was full of David Austin Roses in wonderful tones of rust, bronze and cream.

Our hope is that wedding couples could scroll through these images and fall in love with the warm earthy colours and naturalistic style. We would love couples to be inspired and incorporate some of these ideas to achieve their own cosy style within a barn setting like the lovely Alpheton Hall Barns.
