Elmore Court
Under guidance from Rewilding Britain director Alistair Driver, country house Elmore Court began their own ambitious rewilding project on 250 acres of farmland in January 2021. Since then, the land has been left alone to do its thing and return to wildness, with owner Anselm happily monitoring the progression on his daily dog walks (and updating us all with his musings from @rewildthings Instagram account).
The walled garden was a fully working kitchen garden in Victorian times and has now been lovingly restored, replanted and revived with a new glass house for lots of delicious home-grown food. Anyone booked for weddings from this year onwards will be sampling the delights of the home grown produce in their wedding menus, and the plan is to ever increase this and include meat from happily rewilded beasts too, eventually ending up with an entirely sustainable field to fork menu of home-grown wedding food.
That’s not all – by early 2023 treehouses for weddings and other overnight stays will be complete so that guests can also relax and rewild themselves in this natural retreat space. Elmore Court has plenty of exciting things around the corner and we are so looking forward to watching them unfold.
