The 200 acres of fforest farm are part of an area of unspoilt natural beauty, wrapped in woods, wildlife and wonder. The farm is flanked on one side by the Teifi Marshes nature reserve and on the other, Cilgerran gorge, through which the magnificent river Teifi flows down to the local town of Cardigan and the Irish sea beyond.
fforest Farm is the perfect location for a relaxed, informal, weekend-long celebration with family and friends. It’s yours for the weekend with its choice of event spaces from giant hat tipis, dining and party barns, garden pavilion, private tiny stone pub, large communal firepit and secret woodland sauna.
fforest is the perfect spot for a more intimate winter wedding of 60-80 guests. From April to October fforest host larger weddings for up to 160 guests, offering a flexible combination of celebration spaces. Choose between outdoor festival or indoor hygge. fforest work with you to accommodate larger weddings taking full advantage of all the spaces available to you, adding a bespoke tented festival village to house the additional guests.
In 2017, fforest was judged by National Geographic as one of the top 3 glamping resorts in the world! Yes the world! This was fantastic recognition for fforest, being the only venue in Wales to get a mention in any of the 20 categories celebrating the best taste-making and game-changing hotels across the globe. Judges included Tom Chesshyre, travel writer for The Times, Nikki Tinto, co-founder of i-escape, and James & Tamara Lohan, founders of Mr & Mrs Smith along with members of the National Geographic Traveller (UK) team.
But, not to be complacent, fforest has been constantly evolving since the award and now has mostly cosy heated and insulated accommodation with private showers or bathhouses, suitable for luxurious year-round occupation. fforest Farm weddings are residential, with a minimum 2 night stay. In the farmyard, you’ll find the spacious Georgian farmhouse, split level crog lofts and cosy garden shacs with the living space spilling out onto the terrace; in the surrounding fields, beautifully furnished, romantic geodesic domes either with an adjoining Japanese-style outdoor onsen bathhouse, or a cosy indoor private bathhouse with underfloor heating a short woodland walk away, and the new hill shac suites all with flexible double/twin rooms and a deep outdoor terrace to take in the air and the birdsong. All guest accommodation includes a relaxed supper or wood-fired pizza party on arrival day, breakfast on the morning of your wedding celebrations and a big Welsh barbecue brunch the morning after.
Not any more! Most of our accommodation is now insulated and heated and either has ensuite facilities, or private facilities close to your accommodation including our amazing new cedarwood bathhouses with underfloor heating for the fforest domes.
You and your guests will have exclusive access to the whole site for your wedding weekend. In return, we ask that your guests book our on-site accommodation for your wedding. This requirement depends on the season, but on average we would expect 100 guests to stay on site between May and September, reducing to 80 in April and October, and 60 in March and November.
fforest has a very loyal following of families who come to stay with us every Easter / Whitsun / summer and for this reason, we don't generally host weddings at these times, but we will work with you to find a solution.
Our in-house catering is a-m-a-z-i-n-g !! We are incredibly versatile and can accommodate most requirements. fforest isn't just a venue for hire with wedding day staff. Our in-house team will be in the kitchen well before you arrive, preparing for your welcome night party right through to your morning after barbecue brunch. Our food is a very important part of the whole fforest experience and one that you will be taking about long after the event.
Anyone that has ever held a BYO house party for around 100 people will know how much work is involved in getting your place party ready, providing glasses, chilling bottles and making sure that glasses are kept topped up. And then the clean-up afterwards! The trip to the bottle bank, the scrubbing, the breakages. It's a lot of hard work, isn't it. I bet you've vowed never again. And these are your friends!
It's therefore not fair to expect us to do this for free, especially as we are licensed premises with trained staff, taking delivery, storing, chilling and serving your wine, using our wine glasses, our fridges, our storage space and then clearing away, washing up, disposing of all the waste through trade contracts, replacing any breakages, dealing with the additional cleaning and paying VAT to HMRC.
Although it plays a part, it's not just about lost revenue from you not buying our wine! Each season, we review our wine list and ensure that we carefully select a range of wines to suit most tastes and budgets. We anticipate that you will purchase a quantity of bottles for your event, and our price per bottle takes this into account. If you genuinely find nothing to your taste on our wine list, then we are happy to discuss corkage with you.
