Notes from Narborough Hall Gardens
‘a green thought in a green shade…’
The beautiful June styled styled shoot is inspired by the 17th Century poem ‘The Garden’ by Andrew Marvell.
The poem describes a nymph taking a sensual walk through an abundant garden filled with birdsong, flowers and shady mossy walks. Set in an ancient watery landscape with gentle streams, misty lake, woods and parkland, Narborough Hall has exactly the right atmosphere and sense of place for this shoot. The garden is organic and sensual and its plants are either edible, scented or therapeutic.
It is a space with secrets, an abundance of fruit, flowers and lush greenery.
The focus of the shoot is a bride walking barefoot around a garden. She dreams, gathers flowers, sits in a tree, dips her toes in a stream and swings under an shady tree.
Narborough Hall’s stylist used soft, flowing and delicate vintage clothing from the house collection using a cut velvet grass green dress from the 20’s, a flower strewn vintage dries van noten gown and silk boudoir wraps.
The colour palette chosen for the shoot was lush garden greens mixed with vintage shades of nude, blush, coffee and biscuit with the occasional splash of coral.
The florists from Narborough Hall use the relaxed ‘just gathered’ methods of classic English country house floristry to make beautiful and delicately seasonal arrangements.
The striking hair garland, created spontaneously in the greenhouse using freshly picked foliage, is a perfect example of Narborough Hall’s vision where creativity, elegance and the most beautiful materials combine to make something new and etherial.
Make a bold botanical bride statement with a modern greenhouse foliage hair garland and moss green eye make up, perfect for the foliage wedding trend for summer 2017.
Narborough Hall’s stylist predicts garden ‘foraging’ as a trend in floral design for 2017 with artists beginning to use subtle, and rarer individual garden flowers in bridal bouquets.
If you love the idea of a country garden bouquet but are getting married in the city, we have exciting news!
Narborough Hall will be opening a new floral design space in Notting Hill’s fashionable Westbourne Grove in the early Spring 2017.
Narborough Hall will be bringing the garden to the city. London Brides will now be able to carry beautiful scented, unique bouquets made from the real country garden flowers and etherial wild flowers and foliage that will be arriving fresh from Narborough Halls cutting garden, woodlands and meadows.
The team are excited to meet couples to discuss their wedding floristry and are now booking consultation appointments for February 2017.
