The Australian Bridal Crush

Earlier this month I attended a rather beautiful event at Town Hall Hotel and it was in celebration of all things Aussie.

If you hadn’t noticed, us Brits in the bridal biz have become a little obsessed with all the gorgeousness that’s happening on the other side of the globe. The Australian wedding bubble is big, bright and pretty darn inspirational. With weddings blogs such as Hello May, The Lane and Nouba making their way into our feeds it’s no surprise we’re crushing on our stylish Antipodean friends.

In fact, I urge you to follow these Instagram folks right now – not all wedding related but all all pretty awesome;

So back to the event – The Aussie Bridal Salon was the collaborative project of Town Hall Hotel and Knot & Pop.

Town Hall Hotel is a striking hotel in a vibrant part of East London and belongs to the Unlisted Collection with hotels also in Shanghai, Singapore and Sydney. The venue combines architectural splendour with cutting-edge design and a devotion to the pleasures of life – right up our street.

Knot & Pop are without doubt one of my favourite Wedding Planners – current, fresh, creative and utterly cool I may have a bit of a girl crush on Susie, founder of this stylish award-winning luxury planning brand. Everything they do is with the most incredible attention to detail so when I received an invite to this gig I knew I was in for a treat.

The Aussie Bridal Salon threw a spotlight on three super beautiful Australian Designers for a weekend and brides flocked to try on these exclusive designs, not yet seen in the UK.

Bo & Luca, Cathleen Jia and Nevenka were the designers showcasing and each label has a distinct signature style and ethos. However, the thread for all three designers is their connection to the forward-thinking, modern bride.

This was a bridal appointment like no other as brides-to-be were treated to a 2 hour appointment where they met with the three designers in a one-to-one session, complete with bubbles and nibbles and a bridal goody bag!

Bo & Luca

Bo & Luca brings together intricate artisanal skill and a boho sensibility for a collection that has amassed a global following. Based in Sydney, the brand conjures a mood of glamorous yesteryears, instinctual style and timeless appeal.

Cathleen Jia

Cathleen Jia is based in Melbourne and is famed for her signature vintage-inspired gowns and head pieces. Her designs unify classic with contemporary to create an ever-lasting style.

Nevenka

Nevenka is a luxury Melbourne based fashion house, specialising in both custom made and ready-to-wear collections that take inspiration from the designer’s Eastern European heritage. Perfect for the alternative and style-savvy bride, Nevenka designs speak of effortlessly bohemian appeal with a contemporary twist.

As well as meeting the designers and getting up-close and personal with their gowns, we also chatted to floral legends Grace & Thorn, the aspirational jewellery brand Zoe & Morgan and of course we couldn’t leave without having a little tour of the venue!

The press dinner was spectacular, not only did I get to see the incredible Bethnal Hall at Town Hall Hotel in action but I also saw Susie’s impeccable planning first-hand. The stationery, created by Melanie Johnsson mirrored the art-deco heritage of the venue and each designer had written quotes that were placed on the reverse of our seating cards.

“Fiercely independent with a soulful allure, her style is as innate as her story unique… ” Bo & Luca

The food, company and entertainment was truly delicious and I was fortunate enough to sit next to each designer throughout the courses – totally spoilt!

Knot & Pop also hosted Shop Knot & Pop, a pop-up space located in the Town Hall Hotel foyer where some serious coveting was taking place. Susie handpicked some awesome brands to compliment the event – candles by Evermore London, loungewear by Desmond & Dempsey and homeware gifts for your girls by Lazy Glaze.

We’ll be keeping a firm eye on these Australian designers as they make their way over to the UK market – but for starters you can now find Bo & Luca in Perfect Day Bride my friends!

I hope these images have provided some styling inspiration ahead of your wedmin weekend, but if you’re still searching for that elusive venue that do check out Town Hall Hotel. I think these images by Jacob & Pauline show off the space beautifully.
