A Magical Winter Wedding at Huntsham Court

Written by Emma Hla
I’ve died and gone to sartorial heaven.

Usually we wax lyrical about the glorious choices made by the couple on their big day, and glorious is absolutely the right word to describe Tanya & Jake – the suit, the dress, the shoes! Even Tanya’s chic dressing gown. But, this wedding is also serving up some serious wedding party and guest outfits and we’re so here for it. After too long spent in elasticated waistbands, give me a dress and some gold boots please!

T&J married in November 2019 at Huntsham Court in Devon and this country house couldn’t have been more perfect for this super stylish, cosy and magical, winter celebration. Oh and have I mentioned the fashion?!

Notes from the Venue

Jennifer says…

Tanya and Jake’s bridal party all wore beautiful black outfits, featuring a mix of high-street, designer and vintage YSL, Fendi and Vivienne Westwood. Jake’s suit was Armani, finished with a green with matched perfectly with the greenery used as décor. Everyone swooned over Tanya’s incredible couture gown created by the talented Mishi May. The dress could not have fitted her any better from style to design, it was a perfect personality fit. The fact that she paired with leopard print platforms made it even more amazing!

On the day a van turned up, filled to the ceiling with branches and greenery! It was incredible to see the final decorations in place, with the Great Hall fireplace, Main Entrance staircase and wedding breakfast tables in the Yellow room and Library decorated so stylishly by Starry Eyed Weddings. A mixture of simple greenery, including eucalyptus and ivy were the perfect backdrop for huge church candles, candles in hurricane lamps and of course… disco balls of varying size. As the night drew in, the candle light glittering against the silver disco balls was simply magical.

Tanya and Jake chose Siobhan Beale to capture their big day, and in their own words say, “We had almost maxed out our budget and were even thinking of not having a photographer and giving guests disposables to save money. However nothing can ever prepare you for how you will feel on your wedding day, its really hard to explain but it truly is the best most magical experience of your life. Having hundreds of photographs of that day means that you can relive the day over and over. There are also whole sections of the day that you may not be present for such as when you are getting ready in the morning. Siobhan had captured the moments just before I walked down the aisle and Jake is looking very teary and nervous waiting and being able to see this melted my heart the next day. We still both cry when we look at the photos.”

The couple chose a celebrant led wedding ceremony in the Great Hall. This was such an intimate and personal ceremony for all involved, with the addition of a ring warming ceremony too. The wedding rings are handed around all the guests to warm in their hands, whilst making heartfelt and kind wishes for Tanya and Jake as they began life as a married couple.
