Sean & Kelly’s Homme House Wedding

Written by Emma Hla
This is one of my favourite venues in the collection… not just because it’s utterly beautiful with the odd quirky touch, but mostly because the owners are so, so lovely. Every correspondence I’ve had has been an absolute delight, so when I read Sean & Kelly had the exact same experience then I was ridiculously pleased.

The gardens at Homme House are beyond beautiful and their outdoor ceremony setting is second-to-none. I simply adore the colour and richness captured in these photos by Jenny Rose Photography. If this doesn’t make you want to visit Homme House I don’t know what will!

Over to the lovely couple…

Notes from the Couple

Sean & Kelly say…

We fell in love with Homme House from the first picture that we saw of the summer house. On visiting the venue, we could see that there were just so many beautiful outdoor spaces… nowhere else we visited measured up and it was perfect for an outdoor wedding ceremony. Sarah and Charlie at Homme House were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble and they helped us make our day exactly how we wanted it to be.

Kelly’s wedding dress was a Maggie Sottero from Georgina Scott Bridal called Romyn. Kelly chose it as it wasn’t traditional white or ivory. It wasn’t overly ‘wedding dress-y’ but it had a bridal feel. Originally Kelly didn’t plan on having a veil but it finished the overall look off just perfectly. Kelly wore a necklace and earrings from Pandora bought by her mum for the occasion and she also wore a ring gifted by Sean’s mother that belonged to his Nana. Kelly brought her first pair of shoes before she had brought her dress, they were a beautifully embellished pair by Rachel Simpson. She was given a pair of shoes along with her dress by Rainbow Club so she had to have those too.

Sean wanted a blue suit that was slim fitting. He is a fan of distinctive patterns on trousers so we went for a check suit by Ted Baker. Kelly gifted Sean with a pair of cufflinks personalised with an image of the British Isles and Italy which was our honeymoon destination. They were made of wood in keeping with the day’s natural theme. Due to the heavy pattern on his suit, he went for Oxford shoes over Brogues.

Sean’s sister is a hair dresser at Artisan Hair and Beauty and also Motif. She styled her hair down and wavy in keeping with the natural look. Jess, the stylist then styled Kelly’s hair and make-up opting continuing the natural look. Kelly grew her hair out for 18 months for the occasion. She wore a beautiful hair vine from Liberty in Love with a leafy motif. The adult bridesmaids wore Chi Chi London dresses with layers of tule in a muted pastel lavender to match with the flowers. The children wore pretty white and gold cotton dresses from Monsoon.

Inspired by rural Italian weddings, we wanted our rural English version. With native English flowers accented with hints of Italy. Our florist was Gilliflower of Wem. We asked for a mixture of greenery including olive branches. Within this, we wanted English wildflowers. We reused the pew ends to decorate the staircase inside Homme House for the reception. On the tables, we asked for garlands of olive decorated with country garden flowers scattered with fresh lemons inspired by our honeymoon destination of Sorrento.

Our cake was made by I Do Wedding Cakes. We aren’t fans of traditional wedding cake so we opted for a chocolate, lemon and carrot cake layer coated with buttercream – the carrot cake layer was just for us! We tied in the Italian feel with some more olive around each layer.

The Old Dough Hook Pizza Co. provided our evening catering. This was really our only “we must have” for the whole day. We were so pleased with the pizzas we took the leftovers home with us! Everybody loved it!

We met our photographer, Jenny Rose Photography, at a vintage wedding fair in Much Wenlock. We loved the way that her photographs didn’t look staged and more like she had captured moments in time throughout the day. Jenny was a pleasure to work with from start to finish, her sense of humour made us feel at ease all day. We are thrilled with all the photos.

Favourite part of the day

Sean’s favourite part of the day was the band and Kelly’s subsequent impromptu ‘performance’ of Wonderwall whilst the band were having a break.

Kelly’s favourite part of the day was walking back down the aisle after we had signed the register in a flurry of confetti with our song playing in the background.

From one couple to another…

Don’t worry about the things that could ‘go wrong’ as it really doesn’t matter and nobody will notice! Our first evening caterer cancelled 9 days before the wedding! It was all fine in the end!
