Schlamping at Godwick Great Barn, Norfolk
When James, Godwick’s Grand Poobah, first told me about Schlamping I knew I wanted to share it with you, but most importantly I wanted to show these gorgeous huts off in true rustic style. Step in Penny, stylist extraordinaire and owner of The Little Lending Company. Penny has added some pretty touches to the huts and, as part of the in-house events team for Godwick Great Barn, she’s the perfect person to take us on a little home tour…
Penny:
In the last month, three Shepherd Huts have joined the Godwick scenery tucked into a small wooden glade behind Godwick Hall, each boasting fabulous unspoilt views of Godwick’s landscape and sunsets. Close to nature, but within striking distance of the luxury of Godwick Hall, they offer Godwick Brides & Grooms some more valuable onsite accommodation that is both quirky and rustic, but also very comfortable.
Brides and Grooms can either stay in the lovely huts themselves or reserve them for friends and family who they want nearby for their weekend wedding celebrations.
The three huts come with some fabulous mod cons and have lovely design features, such as oak wooden floors, butler sinks and narrow boat wood burners. Hot running water, a mini fridge, microwave, oak work top, loo, shower and of course a lovely double bed.
As well as a comfortable night’s sleep, guests in each hut can order a Continental breakfast to be delivered to the hut or with prior arrangement a cooked breakfast served at Godwick Hall.
Each hut remains true to Godwick’s landscape that is dotted with sheep, so we have named them after three of our favourite sheep breeds, the Norfolk Horn, Herdwick Hideaway and Ryeland Retreat.

Rates are subject to availability and discounts for wedding packages are available.
- Monday – Thursday from £80 – £120/night depending on number of nights stay.
- Friday & Saturday from £100 – £140/night depending on number of nights stay.
