Nothing Compares: A Unique & Individual Venue

Written by Emma Hla

The Arches @ Dean Clough is a unique and individual wedding venue, nestled in the heart of West Yorkshire. Part of the historic Dean Clough Mills in Halifax, The Arches @ Dean Clough was launched as a wedding venue in 2016 and has fast become renowned for its flexibility and professional but relaxed approach to creating unique, bespoke and exclusive weddings with fabulous food.

The Arches is co-owned by Tony Watkins, owner of the fantastic Eat Me – Drink Me caterers and events expert Jamie Horsley and weddings are exclusively promoted and coordinated by Mode for…Events, directed by Tabby Kerwin.

Tabby commented: “I truly believe that every couple should have an individual and bespoke wedding and The Arches @ Dean Clough is a dream as it offers an incomparable venue. Totally unique in the region, not only does it offer natural beauty with stone floors, vaulted brick ceilings, beautiful windows and cast iron pillars, it offers a completely blank canvas which allows us to help brides and grooms create their own special day. It brings city chic and urban into the heart of Yorkshire.”

Tabby continued: “Individuality and uniqueness is my whole ethos with weddings and events and since we launched last year, everything we have done at The Arches has reflected this. Even our recent wedding fair.”

Mode for…Events has organised wedding fairs at The Arches @ Dean Clough since its launch and even they come with a unique twist. No sterile, formal rows of exhibitors, but a real-life experience with a relaxed atmosphere and a recreation of a real wedding are what visiting couples can expect.

At the end of 2016, Tabby took this concept one step further and hosted a live photoshoot on the same day as the Autumn wedding fair.

“Brides and grooms see pictures in magazines and blogs but I thought it would create a unique experience to see how these photos come to fruition,” said Tabby. She continued: “Not only that, it meant that couples could see how suppliers work to create the perfect wedding look and see how dresses, flowers, cakes, photographers and styling work in a real-life wedding scenario, meaning they could truly imagine their own wedding day.”

Tabby designed the styling for the photoshoot and brought on board some fabulous local suppliers to bring the design to life, collaborating with wedding colleagues to create some truly unique elements such as the ceremony scroll (working with Suzanne Oddy Design) and donut wall (collaborating with Sweet Sugar Sixpence).

“The whole event was great fun and captured brilliantly by Adam Wilkinson Photography,” said Tabby.

Future events with a twist are planned at The Arches @ Dean Clough to inspire couples, including wedding food tasting nights, wedding music showcase nights and a collaborative pre-loved wedding fair with The Bridal Market on 21st May 2017.
