May’s Floral Highlights

For all of you ladies walking down the aisle this month and need a little last minute inspiration, or for those of you waiting a little longer for your May moment and are planning ahead, we have our resident florist Amber from Amber persia | Flowers & Events with this months Floral Highlights…

As we’re on the cusp of summer think bold, bright and just bloomin’ gorgeous!

May is a month overflowing with colour; whether it’s bold and brash or stylish and restrained, tulips come in a multitude of colours, shapes and varieties – my personal favourite are the flamboyant parrot tulips with their crumpled petals and striking colour combinations.

I also have a soft spot for Icelandic poppies, in fact so struck was I with the beauty of these stunning blooms that I have started growing them in our cutting garden for the first time this year. With colours ranging from the palest ivory through apricot, lemon and pink to the brightest and most gorgeous orange any Spring bride looking for colour in their wedding flowers and wanting something a little different should definitely consider these striking beauties.

Finally, given how mild this winter has been I feel we are likely to be blessed with English peonies later this month. Coral Charm (more pink than coral) is one of my absolute favourites but there are some stunners out there including shades of pink from pale to cerise, bright yellows and deep reds so if you are getting married this month and love peonies you’ll be in luck!

So what takes your fancy…?

For me, I think it would have to be the luscious promise of peonies… I desperately wanted these for my own wedding flowers but alas I picked the wrong month to marry!

If you have your heart set on a particular flower do make sure it’s in season folks!
