It was the Love Robot that stole my heart…

I first encountered Emily and her intricate gingerbread designs about a year ago and since then Maid of Gingerbread has established themselves firmly in the alternative cakes & favours arena! You can even spot them in luxe department store Fortnum & Mason with their delicious treats and gifts.

So it’s with great pleasure that I’m introducing this yummy brand (and new #cocosponsor) in a little more detail, plus our readers can receive a 10% discount on any wedding orders. Just quote code ‘COCO10’.

Notes from Maid of Gingerbread

Maid of Gingerbread combines two of my passions: building things by hand, and baking.

It all started back in 2010 when I found our traditional family gingerbread house templates (they were used to make a house for my 5th birthday!) and began experimenting with them; at first just adapting them to make different types of buildings, but then moving on to design templates from scratch in order to make anything and everything out of gingerbread. The results (particularly my edible tea-set) went down so well I decided to focus on it full time and it’s all grown from there!

My mum has always said ‘baking is a game you can eat’ and I think that playful approach has really informed my work. I love coming up with original designs that make people smile.

Why Weddings…?

I started off making wedding favour biscuits and edible place names and found that I really enjoyed working with couples to create personalised items so I began developing alternative wedding cake designs. I think it’s a great time to be working in the wedding baking world as people have moved away from the traditional idea of the white iced cake and there’s just so much originality, colour and fun around these days!

I really love working with a couple to design something that truly reflects their personalities; it’s wonderful to be able to bring their ideas to life. I also love the variety this leads to: One week I’ll be making moustache-shaped cookie pops, the next I’ll be hand icing intricate floral details onto an ornate biscuit box.

My Brand & Service

Maid of Gingerbread is fun, friendly and truly different! We can offer;
