Laura & Ethan’s Eshott Hall Wedding

Written by Emma Hla
Eshott Hall in Northumberland is a beautifully romantic country house and the perfect setting for an English garden wedding. Bride Laura had all the feels for this particular spot when she popped in for a nose around with husband-to-be Ethan. The couple loved it so much they knew it was ‘the one’. Notes from the Bride

Laura says…

Whilst searching for our wedding venue, we knew we wanted somewhere that oozed elegance and class but it also had to have a warm and homely feel for us too. We were not disappointed when we popped into Eshott Hall for a look around. We knew there and then that it was the perfect venue for us. Its’ stunning gardens, quaint chapel positioned just around the corner to the hall, beautiful ballroom, pockets of charm around every corner and its’ uniquely designed boutique bedrooms made it our top choice. It was most definitely ‘the one’.

Our Wedding Coordinator, Hannah, ensured that everything ran smoothly from day one of the planning process. She even sent us a wedding planning book in the post – such a lovely personal touch! On the day, the staff were truly exceptional and provided the best service a nervous, excitable bride could ask for!

Eshott Hall gave us everything and more for a perfect wedding day. From the evening before the wedding where I had an intimate family meal in the gorgeous dining room enjoying the delicious menu, right through to the end of the weekend. Its’ exclusivity made it our own private celebration and we just loved that it was all ours for the whole weekend.

I pretty much decided that the first dress I tried on was going to be the one I wore for my big day. I saw it in the bridal boutique window with my best friend and she said to me “that’s your dress!” and she was completely right. The Enzoani Inaru which I chose was romantic, vintage and classic. With a flattering sweet heart neckline, delicately beaded cap sleeves and my favourite part the beautiful scalloped hem lace. My accessories were very sentimental as I wore my mum’s pearl necklace worn also on her wedding day. My shoes were from The Rainbow Club. I went for a small kitten heel, satin and pretty embellishment. Love a bit of glamour!

Ethan’s navy wool suit was from Ted Baker. Ethan has a very classic style so he went for a smart understated suit with a few finer details on the shirt. The bridesmaids wore blush pink soft, floaty style dresses from Phase Eight in keeping with the romantic feel of the day.

My hair was by Chris Summerly-Smith from James Fulton Hair. Chris has been my hair dresser for a long time now and he’s the only person I trusted to make my hair look soft and ethereal. We added little pink roses in the back to bring even more of a natural feel to the Iook. The bridesmaids and flower girls also had gypsophila positioned in their hair.

We wanted an English country feel to our day with a dollop of romance and charm. There was little we needed to do to create this as Eshott provided the perfect backdrop. In the little chapel we added ivory lace chair covers and cones of gypsophila. Ethan’s parents were so creative and designed our coconut shy game on the lawn with mini brides and grooms. Our guests loved this!

Our flowers were by the wonderful Moira J Floristry, who seamlessly helped me create the most stunning centrepieces. I wanted soft pinks, creams and a little bit of greenery to keep it natural. My wedding bouquet was the most beautiful, dreamy looking bunch of flowers I could have wished for. I don’t think I put it them down all day! The sprigs of lavender amongst the beautiful pink roses added an extra special touch.

My mother in-law Wendy, made our wonderful cupcake wedding tower. All beautifully hand-made with their own little touches. The icing flower crown matched the colour of my actual flowers too! A very talented lady. Her cupcakes were so delicious we decided to use them as our favours.

Jamie Mac Photography gave us our beautiful photos. What a cool man! Jamie was not only super professional but also really fun to have around. He made everyone feel so relaxed whilst capturing all the raw emotion from the day. His photos reflect all the love and happiness of the day.

Best part of the day

My favourite part of the day – so hard to choose!

The moments before walking down the aisle spent with my mum, dad, sister and close friend. Deep breaths, lots of tears and cuddles. I’ll never forget those moments.

Walking out of the chapel hand in hand with Ethan beaming with happiness. I was on cloud nine.

The speeches were fantastic. The best man had us all crying with laughter! My dad and Ethan’s speeches were very emotional.

From one bride to another…

Try to take in every moment and find a small bit of time in the day for just you and your husband. It’s so special to look around and see all of your loved ones smiling and enjoying themselves at your big day.
