Boho Micro Wedding Inspiration with Sami Tipi

Written by Emma Hla
As we all navigate this new world we’re living in, one thing is becoming increasingly clear – coronavirus can’t stop love.

Couples up and down the country are forging ahead with their, albeit changed, plans and saying ‘I Do!’ These small weddings are beautiful and honestly fill me with so much happiness as I scroll through my Instagram feed.

I believe, as a wedding platform focused on venues, it’s up to us to show you just how gorgeous an intimate wedding can be, micro doesn’t mean small on style.

Last week we share Charlotte & Huw’s beautiful coastal wedding and today, we have Jodie fromĀ Sami Tipi talking us through their two-part boho micro wedding in partnership with Bawdon Lodge Farm in Leicestershire.

Notes from Sami Tipi

Jodie says…

As a wedding tipi company, we have experienced an increase in enquiries for both small and outdoor weddings. Many couples are now rethinking their weddings party ideas and size to adapt to the ever-changing climate. Between ourselves and the team at Bawdon Lodge Farm, we wanted to create a visual storybook of how a dream day could be with little compromise.

The Micro Tipi Wedding Ceremony

As a licensed venue for civil ceremonies, Bawdon Lodge Farm offers the legal aspect of a couplesā€™ day to take place at the venue, inside or outside. Once a Grain Barn, the space is plentiful and the bucolic and industrial elements provide the backdrop to an abundance of styles.

In order to draw the eye to the centre of the barn; the team at Bawdon Lodge Farm outlined the ceremony area with hanging silk rainbow ribbons. This created an intimate area within the sizeable barn. This, coupled with white drapery and fairy lights on the ceiling, added a little bit of rustic romance.

Gathering wooden crates, cable reels and small antique tables; we created a socially distanced ceremony area with adorable seating stations in a cabaret-style layout. The Rustic Wedding Company continued the cheerful rainbow colour theme by decorating with brightly coloured drapery table runners, a variety of lanterns, candles and small floral bud vases.

The archway made the perfect frame for the ceremony area. We styled this with two large floral arrangements bursting with brightly coloured flowers. Sunflowers made a striking focal point, alongside orange roses, dahlias and plenty of bouncy foliage. The ceremony table was finished with more flowers in coloured bud vases and two tall bottle green candles in gold candlesticks, adding a touch of glamour.

The Micro Tipi Wedding Celebration / Reception

For the wedding celebration, we set up one giant hat Tipi with clear faƧade and wooden doors. Inside we created a layout with four round tables seating eight guests each, a decorative cake table, bar area and confetti station. All fashioning as an arc around a cosy dancing area, encompassed by a glittery disco ball and fairy lights.

The styling team wanted to use a total contrast of colours and decided toĀ decorate the tipi in muted tones of white, light grey, green and seagrass. Each table was finished off with a grey chiffon table runner, gold candlesticks, a multitude of candles in green, white and grey.

Seagrass charger plates with kraft paper menu cards and white calligraphy place names sat on top of dark green folded napkins. The centres were created using our rustic urns and filled with a beautiful floral arrangement of whites and greens, using lisianthus, astillbe, white roses and lots of deep green foliage, plus with the added eucalyptus they created a real sensory centrepiece, smelling amazing.

Incorporating aspects of the farm, we created four large original milk churns floral arrangements usingĀ beautiful blooms of hydrangea, white roses, gladiolus, lisianthus and plenty of foliage. Two were used to frame the entrance to the Tipi, right next to the wooden doors, with the other two at the front of the bar alongside a lovely basket of snuggle blankets for those colder evenings.

The final touch to the tipi decor was the wooden cart hosting a confetti bar of naturally grown and biodegradable confetti which was provided by Katherine at Dreaming of Confetti. This was draped it with a grey table runner to tie it in with the rest of the decor.

Outside, a fire pit was surrounded by covered straw bales along with the venueā€™s luxury loos.
