There’s something so honest and raw about today’s wedding, held within the hauntingly beautiful village of Clovelly in Devon.
Amber & Warren wanted something relaxed yet unique and close to the sea… Em Long, Wedding Coordinator at Clovelly Village Weddings, gives her account of their day. With an abundance of black & white images by Heidi White Photography, prepare to be swept away…
Em:
Clovelly Garden Summer House, is a small and simple summer house tucked away in the private gardens of The Rt Hon John Rous’s ancestral home. I’d looked at this summer house so many times and had envisioned intimate weddings, people enjoying themselves on the lawn and traditional party games.
The views from The Clovelly Great Terrace sweep across Bideford Bay and, on a good day, Saunton Sands, Croyde and Lundy can be clearly seen! I often walk across the lawn, with my pug in tow, thinking of all the things that could be created, on these three terraces… Then I met Amber & Warren. When this gorgeous couple asked me if they could marry in our summer house, my heart skipped a beat!
Late one cold and windy Saturday, snuggled in the lounge in the Red Lion, we sat comfortably and chatted about their wedding day. Amber was very clear that she wanted a unique setting, by the sea, that could accommodate her guests in one place, but with a difference! The couple both new Clovelly was perfect.
Amber & Warren wanted a wedding ceremony for 120 so we decided to create a gorgeous setting in the gardens at Clovelly Court. Whilst there’s a church within the estate, the couple opted for a small and intimate blessing in the Summer House whilst their guests enjoyed the reception refreshments.
Working alongside Amber has been a highlight of this year, our many discussions involved inflatable polar bears, Mariachi bands, and flamingos! (The flamingos did appear, along with President Obama, reclining on a sofa!)
After a year of planning, the day arrived, and the weather Gods could not have been kinder! Heidi White Photography captured many precious moments, which I’m so happy to be sharing through Coco Wedding Venues. Our unique venue, for 2-200 in a privately owned village, has so much for any couple and this day was a special one for all involved.
So, so beautiful.
A very simple thank you to Em from Clovelly Village Weddings and Heidi White Photography for sharing. Of course, much love goes to Amber & Warren for allowing us to be guests at their big day!
Lots of love…
