A ‘Home Tour’ of Walcot Hall, Shropshire

Written by Emma Hla

I may have squealed when Jade Osborne Photography sent me these gorgeous images of Walcot Hall from our recent trip… I think you may squeal too.

One weekend back in May we packed up the trusty Mini once again and headed to sunny Shropshire for a weekend glamping on the Walcot Hall Estate. I’ll save the alfresco living tales for another day, but whilst I was there I did get to meet up with Caitlin, General Manager of the hall and all round lovely lady.

My show-around started by meeting Caitlin at the front of the spectacular house. Grand, ultra-pretty but certainly not imposing, the house looks out onto the most incredible lake vista complete with swans. With a blue sky, birds singing and beautiful lush green countryside as far as the eye could see, I would say I was pretty close to heaven.

Walcot Hall is a truly unique wedding venue steeped in history and it has an abundance of gorgeous period detailing, it was formerly residence to Lord Clive of India don’t ya know! The house is now very much a family home and so upon entering the hallway you instantly feel that warmth which is why this beautiful space, complete with marble columns, ornate ceiling and a sweeping staircase, is perfect for ceremonies for up to 125 guests.

The bridal suite is a dreamy mix of antiques, chintz and princess-esque details such as the bed with ornate golden crests and delicate mouldings. It’s a pretty fab spot for you and your girls to hang out before the ceremony as there’s lots of super squashy cushions, mirrors and a gorgeous en-suite for all that primping. Natural light floods from the beautiful windows, so it’s perfect for your makeup artist too!

Without doubt, the WOW-factor of Walcot Hall is the Ballroom. Firstly you have to make your way through the prettiest of courtyards (amazing drinks reception space folks!) before entering the bright aqua/teal room. This purpose built, free-standing building has 30ft high ornate ceilings, crystal chandeliers, open fireplaces, gilt mirrors, tall sash windows and the most incredible colour palette you ever did see. As if all of that wasn’t enough, it’s set within acres of beautiful gardens. This space can host up to 150 guests for a sit down meal or 200 for a buffet / party.

What does every good party house need…? Somewhere to lay that weary head after the celebrations have ended of course! At Walcot Hall there is enough accommodation to house around 100 people through a variety of options from traditional holiday apartments to a converted Victorian Tin Chapel, yurts, gypsy caravan and even an old fire truck with a brass bed in the back! As I said, I’ll be back with the full glamping tales soon…

I fell in love with this venue long before I had the chance to visit, but now I’ve witnessed the beauty of Walcot Hall I’ll be forever smitten. Not only does this venue have everything you could possibly want, no matter what your taste or style, the team are also super flexible and helpful so you can truly have a wedding that reflects you…

A huge thank you to Caitlin at Walcot Hall and Jade Osborne Photography. Oh and the gorgeous florals you can spot throughout this post are by super-talented florist Flowers by Breige.
