I absolutely love today’s tour of Stanstead Bury and it’s gorgeous gardens… But what I love the most is the story of Imogen.
Imogen is the venue’s custodian of sorts and back in 2013 she married in the grounds of this private Hertfordshire Manor House herself. Imogen completely fell in love with the venue, so much so that she wanted to share her own wedding day experience with others.
Read on to see how Imogen is now working with the owners of Stanstead Bury to welcome a small number of couples into their beautiful home each year…

Stanstead Bury is the old Manor House in the village of Stanstead Abbotts, a pretty little village near Hertford in Hertfordshire. The venue is the private home of Mr & Mrs Trower and as of this year they have opened up the grounds to hold a maximum of four weddings a year within their beautiful gardens.
I held my wedding reception at Stanstead Bury back in 2013. I was lucky that my Mother knew Mrs Trower through the local parish Council and that she was bold enough to ask her if we could hire her grounds for our wedding reception!
It all worked so well and it was such a special day that I wanted other people to be able to have the same experience that I was fortunate to have. Consequently, I volunteered to raise awareness of the venue and Mr & Mrs Trower agreed that they could undertake a maximum of four weddings a year within their grounds.
I am really excited about helping other people have similar experiences to mine at Stanstead Bury. What’s not to love about you being part of the story of two people falling in love and wanting to share that with their friends and family…?
Weddings are special occasions and to me that means that they need beautiful, unique and memorable settings. I particularly enjoy taking newly engaged couples on a tour around Stanstead Bury. I enjoy hearing about their engagement stories and I particularly like seeing how striking they think our venue is. Also, it gives me a chance to relive my wedding day all over again! When I enter the side garden at Stanstead Bury and see the marquee above the walled garden, I still get butterflies of excitement.
We offer couples a beautiful and unique setting within which they can create a wedding reception that is bespoke to them. We provide the backdrop: a grand Grade II listed Manor House, stunning walled gardens, views of rolling hills, a working farm yard and even the odd chicken and cow. All of this within easy access to both London and Cambridge.
However, at Stanstead Bury we leave the big decisions about which style of marquee and which caterer the couple want to use to them. Although, of course, we are on hand to offer our recommendations and advice when it’s needed. This ultimately means that brides can feel like the day was exactly as they wanted it to be and that they don’t need to compromise on any part of their wedding day.

The hire of our venue is £3,000 and brides are free to use the caterer and marquee company of their choice meaning that at our venues there are no hidden extra charges.
