After five years of bliss together, Josh got down on one knee in Venice and Beth said Yes! Fast-forward to their beautiful DIY extravaganza of a wedding day at Wasing Park in beautiful Berkshire.
With a nod to Alice in Wonderland, crafty touches by both the Bride & the Groom and a toppling butter-cream filled cake, this a rustic delight.
Enjoy!
Beth:
Who would have thought choosing a wedding venue was so difficult..?! After months of looking, and questioning whether we were asking for too much, we finally found the beautiful barn Wasing Park. When we left after our first visit Josh asked me ‘What did you think..?’ and my voice broke trying to answer.
It was ‘The One’.
The venue allowed for such a wonderful selection of photos as there were so many little areas to visit… Even in the field next to the church where cows had done their business! It was all so romantic.
We made absolutely everything ourselves – this was very important to both of us as we are quite ‘crafty’ and really wanted to show our personality in the design of the day. Our theme was Woodland & Country Chic so we had a deer as our symbol then crafted our table plans, invitations and Order of Service around this idea. I am an English Teacher, so we also included our favourite quotes for our seating plan – it took forever to make but we absolutely loved it.
Getting ready with my friends and family in the morning was so much fun and I would advise any Bride to make the most of this time together laughing and drinking champagne out of mugs in the hotel room! We then walked down towards the church which was so emotional and seeing Josh at the altar was the best moment of all.
Our main aim was to have a day of fun celebrating our love of each other and our love of games. Alice in Wonderland style, we went ‘down the rabbit hole’ into our own wonderland indeed!
We made table games – speech bingo and people bingo – to encourage people to meet the other families and friends. We danced down the aisle after the service to ‘Lord of the Dance’ oh and we had a Photo Booth! People were fighting in the queue to get in first… it was a great idea. Dancing away to heavy rock and techno in the evening was the final memory that made the day so special and unique.
Words of Wedded Wisdom…
Stop yourself every now and then on the day to take it all in as it really does speed by and you want to remember every little glorious second of it. As F. Scott. Fitzgerald says, “It is the beginning of everything” and you want to cherish each and every moment.
