A day of love, laughter, and timeless elegance.

Welcome to the wedding of Tom and Anita, who got married in May at East Afton Farmhouse on the Isle of Wight. It’s always a pleasure featuring this destination wedding venue, which bursts with character and charm, and T+A’s big day is no exception. A beautifully relaxed vibe ran throughout, representing the couple perfectly, including spring blooms, a soft, neutral colour palette, delicious cakes, and their gorgeous four-legged guest of honour!

Notes from the Venue

Rosie says…

When Tom and Anita embarked on their journey to plan their dream wedding, they had a clear vision. They wanted a wedding that reflected their love for each other and their connection to the beautiful West Wight, the place they had called home for so long. This vision led them to choose East Afton Farmhouse as the perfect venue for their special day, which turned out to be a brilliant choice.

For Tom and Anita, East Afton Farmhouse was more than just a picturesque backdrop; it was a place that held a special meaning. They had driven past it countless times, always admiring its natural beauty. When choosing a venue for their wedding, they didn’t need to look elsewhere; their hearts were already set on East Afton Farmhouse. The venue resonated with their love for the West Wight, making it the ideal place to celebrate their love story.

Anita’s wedding dress was a showstopper. She found her dream gown at Bridal Treasures in Whitwell, Isle of Wight. Designed by ‘Dando London’ and named ‘Havana,’ the dress was an actual work of art. The intricate embellishments and elegant sleeves made it even more remarkable. It was a dress that perfectly captured Anita’s unique style and personality, making her feel like the belle of the ball.

Tom looked dashing in a suit from Moss Bros, proving that classic elegance never goes out of style. His groomsmen, in matching suits, added to the overall sense of sophistication.

Every wedding detail was carefully considered, from the bride’s hair to the bridesmaid dresses and groomsmen’s attire. Lucy Trill at Thairapy in Newport, Isle of Wight, worked her magic on the hair of the bride, bridesmaid, mother of the bride, mother of the groom, and the best women. Lucy also created custom hair pearls for the bride, adding a personal touch to her look.

Anita’s bridesmaids wore dresses from Bridal Treasures, choosing a rich burgundy colour that added a touch of warmth to the day. The best women in the groom’s party sported tailored trousers from Moss Bros and champagne tops, perfectly coordinated with the groom’s tie and pocket square.

Tom and Anita’s vision for their wedding was clear: they wanted a relaxed, inviting, and timeless day. They chose not to adhere to a specific colour theme, opting for multi-coloured flowers to inject a burst of colour into the decor and bouquets while keeping everything else neutral. Personalize in Newport brought their vision to life with beautiful table decorations, venue decor, and signage that created an inviting atmosphere. East Afton Farmhouse’s natural beauty provided the perfect canvas for their decorations.

The choice of florist played a significant role in bringing their vision to life. Blossoms in Yarmouth rose to the occasion, creating stunning arrangements that incorporated tulips as a nod to the groom’s Dutch heritage. Diane from Blossoms ensured that the wedding flowers were nothing short of perfection. From bridal bouquets to table decorations, the floral arrangements were a testament to the couple’s love and attention to detail.

Food is essential to any celebration, and Tom and Anita’s wedding was no exception. They chose one of East Afton’s fully inclusive catering packages with Seasoned Kitchen, led by Kevin and his team. They were impressed with a Mediterranean buffet that delighted the taste buds of all their guests. Fresh and flavourful, the menu included a mouthwatering lamb dish that left a lasting impression.

The couple offered a wide range of dessert options, ensuring there was something for everyone. The creative touch came in the evening when they introduced a fajita bar, a unique and crowd-pleasing choice. And let’s not forget the incredible homemade cheesecakes lovingly crafted by the bride and her mother. Topped with sugar-paste flowers made by the bride’s mother, they added a personal touch to the sweet treats.

The importance of a skilled photographer cannot be overstated, and Tom and Anita found the perfect team in Kimmi and Sam of Little Isle Photography. They worked tirelessly to capture every moment, ensuring that the memories of their special day would last a lifetime. With over 800 photos, they documented the love, laughter, and joy that filled the air.

The best part of the day

The best part of the day for Tom and Anita was undoubtedly their marriage ceremony. Walking down the aisle and seeing each other for the first time filled them with nervous excitement, but everything felt right as soon as they were together. It was a moment they would cherish forever.

The second highlight of their day was having all their loved ones gathered together. Celebrating with friends and family, sharing stories, and making memories created a warm and joyful atmosphere that was truly magical.

From one couple to another…

As Tom and Anita look back on their wedding day, they offer some valuable advice to future couples planning their special day:

  • Take Time for Each Other: Amid the excitement and busyness, remember to take a few moments alone as a couple to savour the day and each other’s presence.
  • It’s About You: While making your guests happy is lovely, remember that the day is ultimately about you and your love for each other. Stay true to yourselves.
  • Embrace Imperfections: Not everything may go exactly as planned, but don’t let that overshadow the day’s joy. Embrace the unexpected and enjoy every moment because it goes by in the blink of an eye.

Tom and Anita’s wedding at East Afton Farmhouse truly reflected their love story. It was a day filled with love, laughter, and timeless elegance, which they will treasure for the rest of their lives.
