With its beautiful stone walls, mature gardens, trees and grounds, Oakfield Gardens is the perfect backdrop for your tipi wedding.

With charm and wonder around every corner, it’s a dream venue and we love how creative the team are here! You can browse the archive of editorials for this venue to see what I mean, but today we’re heading back to early spring with White Fern Weddings and YTZ Weddings for this latest inspiration.

Notes from the Stylist

Lesley says…

Our focus for the shoot was a quintessential English garden, with elegant blooms and modern touches. We wanted to style the tipi in a way that brought the outside in and felt very much a part of the venue’s beautiful grounds. With bright spring inspired pops of colour and a fresh luxurious feel, the colour palette was lilac and orange with hints of champagne, peach and gold accents. The shoot was in mid-spring and we wanted to celebrate the colour that was blooming all around with the change of the season!

The gown was a beautiful off the shoulder number by Justin Alexander and was supplied by The Dressing Rooms. The dress was simple and chic, with a soft chiffon skirt and beautiful bow detail. The thigh-high split gave the dress wonderful movement and looked so beautifully modern on our bride. Hair and Make up was kept elegant and natural and was finished with a stunning headpiece.

When styling the tipi, we wanted to create something different and luxurious, and so moved away from a traditional rustic feel. Instead, we were thinking modern, elegant, fresh and high end! Our tablescapes were adorned with long dramatic taper candles in a pale lilac, sat upon a full length chiffon runner that fell to the ground at the end of the wonderful wooden tables.

Luxury gold charger plates were styled at each place setting with a linen knot tied napkin and personalised menus with a lilac wax stamp. This added a classic touch but also a wonderful mix of texture and depth along the table. The signage was frosted to create a soft and luxurious feel, finished perfectly with meadow inspired florals.

The top table florals looked as though they had been picked that morning from the venue’s very own flower beds and were created in a way to look as though they were still growing in a meadow. Jo from Issy & Bella was our chosen florist due to her incredible eye for detail. We chose a large organically structured bouquet for our bride, along with floor meadows for the signage. Along the guest tables we had delicate bud vases and low bowl arrangements that allowed the flowers to appear as if growing from the bowl itself. We wanted an organic and natural feeling throughout.

We hope couples can be inspired by our shoot and see that tipi doesn’t have to mean traditional-rustic. You can absolutely do luxury and high end in an outdoor environment. We wanted the tipi to sing with colour and opulence, to feel like an on trend, elegant wedding for a modern couple. When considering a venue for your tipi, choose a venue that has established and beautifully maintained grounds such as Oakfield Gardens so that you can explore the venue, be inspired for your décor and colours palette, and get incredible images on the day!
