Sally & Dan’s Wedding at Smeetham Hall Barn

Written by Caitlin Hoare
Step into the enchanting world of Smeetham Hall Barn, where beauty, splendour, and romance come together…

I couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome this utterly charming venue to the Blog today for their first wedding feature with us! Sally and Dan’s wedding took place only a couple of months ago, in early July. They really made the venue their own and made the most of the surrounding wildflower meadows and rolling countryside with a dreamy sunset portrait shoot – as they should!

If you’re yet to discover this unique venue nestled on the border of Essex and Suffolk, you’ve got to keep scrolling.

Notes from the Bride

Sally says…

We fell in love with Smeetham Hall Barn for its breathtaking countryside charm and remarkable versatility. The venue boasts an enchanting setting, ranging from an old rustic-style barn to a beautiful Manor House surrounded by blooming rose bushes and a picturesque lake. The diverse photo opportunities make Smeetham Hall an ideal location.

Our wedding party was sizable, including seven bridesmaids and six groomsmen. The bridesmaids looked stunning in one-shoulder dusky blue gowns complemented by matching pearl accessories, with their hair and makeup done by the talented dream team of Hair So Boho and By Kayleigh. The groomsmen donned elegant three-piece navy suits with light tones to harmonise with the dusky blue theme. From Wed2b, my dress was a captivating mermaid shape, accentuated by a beautiful train, and I wore pearl accessories that perfectly matched the bridesmaids.

We opted for minimal decorations to accentuate the natural beauty of the venue. Smeetham’s fairy lights created a magical and elegant backdrop in the barn, while candles and lanterns around the space added to the rustic ambience. The floral arrangements adhered to the theme, featuring ivory and blue roses, ivory hydrangeas, lilies of the valley, eucalyptus, and gypsophila. We chose silk and foam flowers matching the theme to preserve the day’s beauty, ensuring lasting memories of our special occasion.

The delicious three-tier cake by Kayla’s Cakes featured a semi-naked design with layers of red velvet, a Victoria sponge, and lemon cake. It was adorned with a personalised cake topper and flowers to complement the overall theme.

Our photographer Phoebe Rossi Photography made us feel relaxed and at ease throughout the day. She skillfully organised numerous photos, capturing all the cherished memories we had hoped for. Her natural and unposed shots beautifully depicted the genuine emotions that unfolded on our special day.

Best part of the day

Though the entire day was beautiful, the evening held a special place in our hearts. After two years of meticulous planning, it was a time to unwind and celebrate with our friends and family.

From one couple to another…

Cherish every moment with your partner, as the day will fly by in a blur. Don’t let minor issues bother you, as the day’s events are beyond your control; embrace and enjoy every precious moment.
