Riverside Romance at The Haybarn, Herefordshire

“We are most alive when we’re in love…”

The term rustic romance could have been penned exclusively for this gorgeous barn venue. The Haybarn in Herefordshire was the perfect backdrop for this beautiful, natural editorial. It’s refreshing to see blossom in the front and centre of a creative brief – the epitome of spring and life spent in the countryside.

Notes from the Venue

Emma + Rebecca say…

The natural beauty of The Haybarn and its surroundings in spring was too good not to share this year. Having completed a new outdoor ceremony space for 2021 we wanted to celebrate by bringing together a brilliant team of local wedding suppliers for a rustic, romantic styled shoot.

The Cartshed, our newest addition, is an open-sided, airy barn building perfect for small and intimate elopements, or larger wedding celebrations. It has been clad with beautiful oak to be in keeping with The Haybarn and natural farm surroundings.

‘Springtime’ was the theme for this shoot – a wonderful time of year on the farm that we wanted to capture and share. Issy & Bella created the most beautiful florals including a flower arch in the ceremony area, bouquet, head piece and buttonholes. Our main objective was to bring the outside in! In order to do this we foraged hazel and beech from the riverside next to the Cartshed, apple blossom from the orchards on the farm, natural foliage from the florist’s garden as well as including sweet peas, cornflowers and ruffled petals of ranunculus and peonies.

The inclusion of apple blossom tells a story of days gone by at The Haybarn. Imagine the traditional apple harvest with a horse and cart laden with rosy fruit. But this is not just about the past, we also wanted to celebrate the natural beauty that surrounds the farm in Herefordshire, display our appreciation for the countryside and nod to the fact that we continue to farm and regenerate the land so that as a family business we can offer our couples the most picturesque setting in which to get married.

The colour palette came naturally thanks to the floral arrangements and natural surroundings. We had spring greens from the foliage, tones of whites and pinks from the apple blossom and neutral browns present in the building’s materials. These all worked together beautifully to create a relaxed, boho vibe.

Couples can enjoy endless photo opportunities at The Haybarn as demonstrated in this shoot; the rustic wood-cladded walls, the neon sign or around the farm itself. We hope couples take inspiration from the natural elements and include these wonderful touches in their special celebration.
