Olivia & Tom: A Spring Wedding at Thicket Priory

Written by Caitlin Hoare
Olivia and Tom’s delightful spring wedding was held in May this year at the breathtakingly beautiful Thicket Priory in North Yorkshire.

No spring wedding is complete without a gorgeous pastel bridal bouquet. Still, Olivia eschewed the traditional pastels for a “colourful and happy” floral theme that brought the venue (and the whole day!) beautifully to life with seasonal, bright pastel blooms in shades of peach, blue, pink and lemon. With confetti to match their refreshing and radiant spring theme, bridesmaids in elegant green, and an intimate wedding ceremony inside Thicket Priory’s quaint on-site chapel, their day was simply perfect and utterly seamless thanks to a super organised bride and Thicket Priory’s impeccable team supporting them every step of the way.

The Venue

Thicket Priory is a truly unique venue with so much character. Every detail has been thoughtfully considered, and we knew immediately it was the perfect place for our wedding weekend. The team at Thicket Priory was incredibly lovely, making us feel instantly secure, knowing they would go above and beyond to make our wedding special.

The Fashion

For my dress, I chose a classic A-line Sassi Holford ‘Charlotte’ gown with a square neckline. It was simple and elegant, making me feel like a princess. I complemented it with a bespoke Dolecka Bridal headband adorned with small pearls and flowers. It elevated the dress’s simplicity and matched perfectly with my Sassi Holford veil, also embellished with flowers. My shoes were low-block heels in white suede from Emmy London, featuring a large bow at the front that added a fun touch to my bridal look.

The Décor & Flowers

We aimed for a soft, colourful, and fun atmosphere, with much of the styling centred around our flowers. We enlisted Emma the Florist, whose talent amazed us. Our brief was “colourful and happy,” she exceeded our expectations. The flowers were beautiful and truly reflected the day’s joy. Emma has her own flower shop in Baildon village, and we highly recommend visiting her charming shop!

The Food & Drink

Our wedding cake was especially meaningful as it was baked and decorated by our wonderful friend, Kath. It was a two-tiered white chocolate and raspberry cake with white frosting adorned with fresh flowers from our florist. We feel fortunate to have had such a special gift from a dear friend.

Purple Chilli provided the catering for the entire weekend, impressing us with the high standard of food and excellent service. The dishes were delicious and beautifully presented, and the team was professional and friendly throughout.

The Photographer

Amy Lou Photography was fantastic! Her photos are stunning, and she made everyone feel at ease on the day. She captured so many special moments; we will treasure her photos forever.

From one couple to another

Choosing the best part of the day is challenging as everything was perfect. Our ceremony, performed by Jackie from I Do Your Ceremony, was beautiful and personal. Sharing our story with our closest family and friends was incredibly special, filled with love, fun, and laughter. We will cherish it forever. Our wedding breakfast was also a highlight; it was so much fun. Richie Fiddle, the violinist, played during the desserts, setting the tone for the evening’s festivities.

Organisation is key! I had a comprehensive checklist that covered every detail, ensuring I stayed on top of everything. This allowed me to relax and enjoy the week before the wedding. Remember, the day will be perfect no matter what, and with good organisation, everything will fall into place.
