October Wedding Inspiration at Somerley

Written by Caitlin Hoare
Somerley House is a charming and luxurious country house nestled in the Hampshire countryside.

With modern couples seeking elegant and luxurious styling ideas that bring the venue, florals, and decor seamlessly together, the team styled the shoot with lush foliage, candles, and complementary textiles mixed with rich seasonal hues of peaches, oranges and browns. Thanks to the gold gilt frames, rich wooden floors and sumptuous details, Somerley really was the ideal setting for this autumnal shoot curated by Olive and Blush and captured by NK Photography.

What set Somerley House apart as the ideal venue for this seasonal editorial was not just its picturesque exterior but also the interior spaces that exuded warmth and refined grace. The Picture Gallery and the Library’s classic architectural features and inviting ambience perfectly encapsulated the romantic and whimsical tone we sought to achieve. The Library, adorned with rich wood panelling and antique furnishings, exuded a timeless charm, while the Picture Gallery offered grandeur and natural light, creating a captivating atmosphere. In choosing Somerley House, we found a venue and a partner to bring our vision to life. Every corner added a layer of magic to our editorial.

Our celebration unfolded in a palette of rich and evocative burnt oranges, capturing the essence of October’s seasonal warmth. The theme radiated through every detail, from the venue to the flowing dresses, introducing a captivating element of movement to the photography.

Renowned hair and makeup artist Gemma Sutton was pivotal in bringing this vision to life. With her expertise in the world of beauty, Gemma curated a hairstyle and makeup look that seamlessly blended sophistication with a timeless appeal. A key element in achieving this classic luxury bridal aesthetic was the use of Gemma’s headpieces. Each piece was selected to complement the hairstyle and elevate the bridal look. These headpieces added a touch of regality, framing the bride’s face with a subtle brilliance that enhanced her natural beauty.

To complete the ensemble, we turned to the exquisite jewellery from Nicholls Jewellery. Their pieces, carefully chosen for their craftsmanship and timeless design, added the perfect finishing touches to the bride’s overall appearance.

Nestled within the picturesque setting of Somerley, our florist, Little Green Florist, was pivotal in transforming the venue into a botanical haven. Little Green Florist’s artistry unfolded through breathtaking centrepieces that adorned the tables in an exquisite display of nature’s bounty. Each arrangement was a testament to her skill, blending colours and textures in perfect harmony, creating an atmosphere that captivated the senses.

Beyond the reception area, Little Green Florist extended her creativity to the ceremony space with a floral tapestry that framed the vows in natural elegance. The floral decor didn’t just enhance the venue’s beauty; it was elevated to a place where nature’s wonders intertwined seamlessly with the celebration of love.

Our shoot at Somerley serves as a visual guide, offering couples a glimpse into how the connection between the venue, florals, and styling can elevate the overall wedding experience. It’s an opportunity to gather seasonal ideas, spark creativity, and embark on the exciting journey of planning a day that reflects each couple’s unique love story.
