Moody Blues at Huntsmill Farm

Written by Emma Hla
Huntsmill Farm is nestled in the countryside on the Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, and Northamptonshire border, complete with a beautiful rustic stone barn.

A collaboration between the venue and stylist Gemma, The White Emporium, this editorial focuses on navy blue tones and industrial elements, all set against the beautiful 18th century stone barn as a backdrop.

Our colour palette was multiple shades of dark navy to create a moodier feel to complement Huntsmill Farm’s stone barn walls, with an added rustic and industrial edge. Our stylist, Gemma at The White Emporium, used an industrial-style backdrop draped with navy fabric adorned with festoon lighting.

Our model, April, wore a satin champagne-coloured dress from Th & Th, a beautiful contrast against the dark tones of the decor. To mirror the gold colour of her dress, our model wore the Empress headpiece from Caped & Crowned, intricately designed with blossom beads and hand-twisted stems, along with other statement accessories. Wild Sapphire created our model’s bouquet which featured anemones, roses, aquilegia, cerinthe, and agapanthus, surrounded by plenty of foliage.

Decorating the stone barn, we hung greenery from the fairy light-adorned ceiling, draped with navy fabric and complete with gold hanging lanterns. The tablespace below included gold tones from the candle sticks and cutlery, minimalist stationery from Paper Grace in moody blue shades, with simple table numbers and minimal typography. Single stem vases and coloured glasses from Wren Ark added to the atmospheric theme throughout.

Designed to follow from the uneven textures of the stone barn walls, the cake was by Deliciously Divine, accompanied by mini cakes. The wedding cake was adorned with greenery and flowers, complemented by the draped fabric background and floral arrangements.

Our styled shoot also took advantage of the other rustic and beautiful locations at Huntsmill Farm, such as the industrial-looking storage containers and the stunning lawns. We utilised the outdoor structure, The Shed, a rustic wood structure with a corrugated tin roof overlooking the picturesque countryside backdrop. The White Emporium decorated the shed by draping navy fabric and included floral arrangements by Wild Sapphire.

To add to the colour scheme, Wild Sapphire created floral arrangements with shades of blue, purple, and orange with lots of lush foliage which was surrounded by candles to add to the lighting of the moody atmosphere.

We hope that this styled shoot inspires you and encourages you to use a variety of darker shades and atmospheric lighting to create a decadent feel for your wedding day.
