An Italian London Wedding at Hall Place & Gardens

by Caitlin Hoare

Lucrezia & Simone brought the spirit and charm of Sardinia to the Kent countryside for their June wedding at Hall Place & Gardens.

Although summer technically isn’t far away now it still feels like it, so let us take you back to the warmer months where the sun was shining, gardens were blooming and weddings were in full swing. This Italy-inspired wedding is elegant, laid-back and full of beautiful, heartfelt moments. Let’s dive in!

Notes from the Bride

Lucrezia says…

We got married at Hall Place & Gardens and absolutely fell in love with the rose garden and the classic architecture of the Great Hall. The wooden details are stunning and elegant.

Before going wedding dress shopping the style I had in mind was a mermaid shape; sexy and elegant. However, when I was trying them on, it did not feel like me at all! The dress I chose for the wedding was actually suggested by the sales assistant. I was sceptical but decided to try it on; I immediately fell in love! A simple skirt with two layers of lace and a corset with a V neckline and open back, lightly decorated with flower-shaped beads. Even the size was perfect. I only had to shorten the dress, but this was the only alteration I had to make. My friends and family who were there with me during the fitting had the same feeling as me. It truly was the one and we all felt it!

For me, it was really important to be comfortable during the day, and even though my dress was very comfortable, I decided to buy another dress for the evening party. And this is truly the best choice I made and the only advice I would give to brides!

The shoes had to be comfortable to wear all day too. They were pointed at the front and open at the back with silver glitter decoration, making the look very sophisticated and elegant. My make-up was very light and natural. I do not normally wear makeup, so it was only logical to not exaggerate for the wedding as it would not have been like me. The makeup artist was very helpful in choosing the right makeup for me.

Simone wore a classic and elegant three piece black suit with matching tie and white shirt.

Chic Weddings was our florist and venue decorator. The main colours we chose were white and blush pink, all the decorations reflected that. We wanted a simple and elegant style. It was just perfect for us! We are both Italians from Sardinia but got married in the UK, so we wanted to include our origin in the wedding. We named the guest tables after Sardinia’s beaches. That way we truly felt we were home and all our guests had a bit of Sardinia with them during the wedding.

The cake was delicious! It was made by a friend who is a pastry chef. It was a four-layered fruity cake with a malibu-coconut cream, decorated with mango and raspberry. It was really important for us that the cake tasted great and looked pretty.

We are so grateful to have chosen Aline Reis Photography as our photographer for our wedding! The pictures were so beautiful, she did not miss one moment of the day and I loved that she took lots of candid pictures. She was very discrete and patient, I didn’t notice her once during the ceremony but she took so many beautiful pictures, we were astonished!

Best part of the day

When I walked down the aisle with my father and I saw my husband getting emotional. Simone is usually very contained and does not show his emotions too much, especially in front of other people. For me to see him so emotional and happy was a truly special moment. I felt loved and beautiful. It was our moment and we lived it to the fullest. A core memory that will always be with me.

From one couple to another…

If you are planning to have a party, buy a second short dress to be able to dance all night! In my opinion, it was the best decision I made.

Everyone will have an opinion and give it without being asked. You and your future husband / wife are organising a day for yourself to celebrate your love and happiness. You should do what you desire and what is best for both of you. I promise you, you will not regret doing what you wanted for your day!
