Lisa & Leon’s Multiple Ceremony Wedding at Thicket Priory

Written by Emma Hla
In the picturesque setting of Thicket Priory in June, Lisa and Leon sealed their love with multiple ceremonies.

On their wedding day, they blended traditions, featuring a chapel ceremony, a tea ceremony, and a colourful feast for their friends and family (wait until you see the cake by Poppy Pickering… pretty doesn’t even cover it!). L&L cleverly embraced the entirety of the house and its stunning grounds. Despite the occasional summer rain, Thicket Priory offered a wealth of captivating backdrops, indoors and outdoors, ensuring their cherished moments were beautifully captured in these photos by Carla Whittingham. Enjoy!

Notes from the Venue

Anna says…

Thicket Priory’s flexibility allowed Lisa and Leon to craft a truly unique wedding experience. They began with an intimate legal ceremony in the cosy Jefferson Room, setting the stage for what would come. Later, they had a deeply personal Chapel ceremony conducted by their friend, Tom, whose natural talent for officiating left everyone in awe. The day was beautifully rounded off with a traditional Chinese tea ceremony under the charming bandstand on the picturesque grounds.

Lisa embraced her heritage with two exquisite dresses. She radiated elegance in a traditional bridal gown and wowed everyone in a stunning traditional Chinese gown. Their wedding perfectly blended the classic movie ‘White Wedding’ with heartfelt nods to the couple’s cultural roots.

“Anna and her team were incredible in helping us plan our wedding; they were so accommodating with our questions and visits and really strived to make the day as smooth and memorable for us as possible!” – Leon.

Flowers took centre stage at this enchanting celebration. Gigantic alliums, reminiscent of footballs, stole the show. The vibrant colours of these blooms inspired the design of place cards, invites, and even the cake, creating a harmonious floral theme throughout the day. The talented Kim from Dreamboats & Carousels designed wild and colourful floral displays that added enchantment to the venue.

The stunning cake, a masterpiece by Dominique at Poppy Pickering Cakes, was an actual work of art. Delicate florals adorned the cake, creating the illusion that they had been plucked straight from a garden.

“We were blown away when we first visited Thicket Priory- it was an absolute fairy tale castle with incredible character and lovely details- each room was gorgeous, and the team were incredible at making our planning process and wedding day superb! Could not recommend them enough!” – Lisa

Carla, an experienced hand at Thicket Priory, expertly captured the essence of the day. She easily navigated the ever-changing British weather, immortalising every precious moment. Despite the mixed conditions on the 20th of June, Carla managed to create breathtaking indoor group photographs and capture the golden hour of a summer solstice evening during the outdoor tea ceremony at the bandstand.

Lisa and Leon’s wedding day at Thicket Priory was a testament to love, culture, and the beauty of Yorkshire’s countryside. It was a day filled with unforgettable moments, vibrant florals, and two stunning dresses celebrating tradition and modernity.
