Kayleigh & Matt’s Weston Hall Wedding

by Emma Hla
Images by Will Fuller Photography.
K & M married last autumn in a rustic celebration at Weston Hall in Staffordshire.

This couple fell in love with their venue and everything it offered for their big day, and Kayleigh has included her own savvy wedding planning tips to help anyone else currently navigating the venue search.

Notes from the Bride

Kayleigh says…

Weston Hall is a beautiful venue and fantastic value for money! We loved the terrace area and the Westminster Suite that holds your wedding breakfast and evening do. The venue was also very convenient as it is local to where we live.

I actually went for a dress completely opposite to what I had envisaged. Originally I was thinking to go for a plain, elegant, and flowy dress, however, this didn’t suit me. The dress that I ended up choosing was the ‘Élysée Athénaïs’ which is very figure-enhancing, made up of lace with soft tulle and has off the shoulder sleeves. I opted for ivory and nude colouring to match the colour theme of the day. And for the bridesmaids, we knew from the beginning that we were going for a dusky rose colour. As all of my five bridesmaids are different shapes and sizes, it was a perfect choice to go with a multiway dress that they could all wear comfortably and in whichever style they chose, we had an extra piece of tulle fabric attached to the bridesmaids’ dresses so that they matched with my dress also.

The style of décor that we went for was very rustic. Chosen colours were blush pinks and whites with greenery foliage. We incorporated wooden crates and pallets to style different areas, along with candles.

Our florist was Nadia Di Tullio Flowers and we chose pale pink and white roses as they were my Nan’s favourite, and sadly she couldn’t be with us after passing from Covid the year before the wedding. We had the flowers dressed with lots of green foliage to fit in with the ‘rustic’ theme.

We went for a rustic feel with our cake and really wanted that ‘naked-effect’ with fresh flowers. The cake was displayed on a log, further adding to that ‘natural’ and ‘rustic’ theme. The cake was made by Forrester Cakes and was made up of Victoria sponge for the bottom tier, cherry Bakewell for the middle tier, and the top tier was lemon sponge.

Weston Hall was one of the very few venues that offered canapés, a three-course wedding breakfast, and evening food within the price of the package, rather than adding an additional cost for the use of separate catering. This worked out better value for money. To start, we had duck croquettes, followed by beef sirloin and the trio of desserts for afters. And, finally, for the evening food, we had pork baps. All were decided on at the menu tasting event that we attended.

Matt, my husband, actually went to school with Will Fuller, so when we began looking for a photographer, he showed me Will’s social media profiles. I immediately knew that I wanted to use him as our photographer! His photos are so natural and beautiful. Will manages to capture everything perfectly without having to pose too much, something Matt wasn’t keen on having to do. We love each and every photo that Will took of our special day!

Best part of the day

We cannot pinpoint! It was amazing from start to finish, honestly the best day of our lives. Our wedding coordinator ensured the day ran perfectly and we have since had comments from our friends and family on how well the day flowed. The most exciting part of the day would have to be the ceremony, as we were both so excited to tie the knot. But the wedding breakfast was also an amazing part of the day – the food was phenomenal!

From one couple to another…

Set a budget before you begin looking at venues and write a key list of requirements for your big day, including the things you can’t go without.

Enjoy every minute! You end up looking forward to your day for so long and before you know it, it’s over in a flash.

Don’t stress! It’s the best day of your lives. Allow others to help and don’t feel as if you have to sort everything yourselves.
