Jenna & Jack’s Huntsham Court Wedding

Jenna & Jack enjoyed a weekend of celebrations at this country house wedding venue in Devon – expect hugs, dancing and lots of love. We have everything crossed we can get back to this very soon.

Just over a year ago now, we welcomed Jenna and Jack to Huntsham Court for their wedding weekend, spent with 106 guests made up of close friends and family.

What makes this particular wedding so special to the team at Huntsham Court is that it was the last, unrestricted wedding we hosted before lockdown was put in place.

Looking back at photos after any event always fills us with such joy as we get to relive those memories over and over, however this wedding stood out to us as a poignant moment in time where we last saw a large group gathering of family socialising with extended family and friends grouped together like friends should be.

Jenna and Jack’s wedding has served as a reminder of how things were prior to all the changes we have experienced in the past year, as well as what we have to look forward too once weddings can return to their former, unrestricted glory.

It’s not just the couples and their guests we have sorely missed, but the wonderful suppliers who are such an integral part to each and every event we host. As an exclusive use, self-catered venue, couples are free to pick the suppliers who resonate with their unique style and requirements, meaning we get to work with a whole host of talented individuals and businesses!

Jenna and Jack’s wedding was a wedding where we saw some familiar faces making the weekend as special as possible, with glorious flower displays by Earth Gallery, delicious food by Milkshed Catering, elegant hair and make-up by Rebecca Wedding Hair and great tunes by the band the FuFu Sailors.

The all-important photos were taken care of by Holly Collings and she has shared some of her memories from Jenna and Jack’s wedding, as well as imparting some great wedding photography advice…

Holly says…

I have so many feelings looking back at the wedding photos from Jenna and Jacks special day. Mainly, I feel we were all so lucky that the wedding got to go ahead before any of the restrictions! There is a real sense of nostalgia about this wedding as well, even though it was only just over a year ago, life has changed so much in that time. We all spent time apart from those we love, which means I feel incredibly moved looking at these photos and seeing the closeness and togetherness that we’ve not had for so long. With the return of weddings though, my excitement is building at the thought of getting back to photographing weddings and couples again very soon!

While there were so many special moments, everyone together on the dance floor in the evening now stands out the most! I always think a live band has such good vibes and the ability to get more people dancing. I think on this occasion, everyone partied extra hard knowing that things we likely to change in the near future. The Great Hall at Huntsham Court is one of my favourite dance spaces as well, with a glittering chandelier right above the dance floor.

The weather that day was beautiful, with amazing light both inside and outside the house, making for some really gorgeous photos. The one set of pictures I do particularly love though are the images of Jenna as she is walking to the ceremony with her Mum, arm in arm and smiling, especially as they are heading down the beautiful staircase with the flowers framing the steps!

If I could give couples reading this one tip, it’s choose a photographer whose ethos matches your own. If you look through their portfolio and the images really capture your imagination and you can picture yourselves in their photos, then you’re off to a great start! I always think you should also pick a photographer you like, because they’ll be with you for the whole day! This should then allow you to be able to be your authentic, relaxed selves, safe in the knowledge you’ve chosen someone you trust and someone who will capture the day how you want.
