Jeni & Andy’s Autumn Micro Wedding in Cornwall

Written by Caitlin Hoare
An intimate autumnal gathering at small but perfectly formed Cornwall wedding venue, Treseren.

Jeni and Andy only got married a couple of months ago, so are likely still basking in that glorious just-married glow, and with Christmas around the corner what a wonderful few weeks they’ve had!

Their October micro wedding was a beautifully intimate gathering, a true celebration of their love, and an ode to their favourite season. They wanted to fill the house with a feel of autumn and cor, did they do just that! Cue seasonal florals in shades of orange, flourishes of emerald green (to match the engagement ring, natch!), and gorgeous little autumnal details throughout.

It’s warm, personal and just really blimmin’ lovely. Plus they are the one of the happiest, smiliest couples we’ve seen gracing the pages of the Blog. They also have such kind words to say about all of their suppliers who made their dream day a reality, including our Cornish gem, Treseren…

Don’t ever change a thing because what you do is perfect“.

Notes from the Bride

Jeni says…

When we decided to get married, our first and most important aspect of our wedding was that we wanted to cover the costs for everyone to enjoy their weekend. Especially in the current financial climate. By keeping it small, it meant we could really treat everyone who came, with not only a long weekend away but lots of little treats too.

When we started planning the wedding we both agreed we wanted it to be stress free and how WE wanted it. We bought a wedding planning book just to help us organise everything but honestly it was a waste of money. Izzy our wedding planner was amazing, she got us straight away and knew what we wanted for our wedding. The planning guides provided by Treseren and the online portal was great, then being able to check in with Izzy every now and then and ask whatever questions we had was invaluable.

The food Treseren provided was fantastic, the welcome meal was generous and delicious. We also didn’t expect such a spread each morning for breakfast, we loved every detail including the little menus and fruit platter each morning.

It was the most perfect day and weekend. Emma and Izzy are amazing and Izzy in particular went above and beyond to help make our day perfect. The entire process from planning to the big day was so easy thanks to the team. The house is gorgeous and the area is perfect for a wedding any time of the year. We were looked after so well all weekend. Don’t ever change a thing because what you do is perfect. We felt like they really cared and it was in no way just a wedding venue. I can’t recommend Treseren enough. The perfect start to our married life.

I bought my dress from Boo Bridal Boutique. I was going to buy a high street dress because I honestly wasn’t that bothered about the dress, as long as it was white and floor length. Then I saw my local bridal shop had a Christmas sale last year and I thought I would just book in to have a look. I went on my own and told Emma, the owner, my style and she picked my dress out straight away plus 3-4 others. I got it down to 2 and then called on my sister and mum to give me their opinion. That night I got home, looked at photos of the two and instantly knew which one was my dress. I messaged her and picked it up the next week. Emma did make a few tweaks to it in August to make it the perfect fit for me. I felt so amazing in that dress. Emma is a wonderful lady.

Andy’s suit was by Marc Darcy and the shoes were from Master Debonair. He ordered a few suits to our home and tried them on, when he put his wedding suit on it made me cry, he looked so handsome. His shoes were so cool too. Very Andy.

Autumn is our favourite time of year, the colours, the weather, the cosiness that autumn brings. When we agreed an October date we knew the look we wanted straight away. My engagement ring is an emerald and so that also played a part in the colour scheme for the day too. We wanted to fill the house with a feel of autumn so we got lots of little bits to put all round the house. Our autumn scented candle filled the house with an autumn fragrance too which so many people have commented added to the feel, I’m really pleased we did that.

When we first chatted to Emily from Three Acre Blooms and told her our autumn theme she was so excited and we knew we was in safe hands. We opted for quite a few flowers and I’m so glad we did, she was gorgeous and so were her creations.

I don’t have words for how amazing Dean, Chef in my Home‘s food was. It was simply delicious, and I hadn’t eaten for days before due to nerves and the thought of a tight dress so I inhaled the food! All our family & friends are big foodies and the feedback from them shared our thoughts, really amazing food.

Photos from Sophie was our photographer…we love her! Andy dabbles in photography so he knows what he likes but as soon as we saw Sophie’s photos we knew she was special & perfect for us. We didn’t want anything to formally posed. Just natural shots from the day and she nailed it.

During the wedding planning Izzy mentioned that couples in the past had popped out to the beach. Both of us spent a lot of time on Cornwall beaches growing up during the summer holidays so we loved the idea of popping out for some couples photos there. We came down to Cornwall in July and had such a lovely time visiting all the beaches. Then we found our dream photographer who loves an adventurous shoot. When we booked Sophie, she said she would travel down the day before and offered us an engagement shoot on the beach the night before our wedding. That was so exciting, when we got to Holywell Bay at around 5pm on a warm and sunny October evening we found an empty beach and the most gorgeous golden hour sunset, the pictures are amazing. On our wedding day we just wanted a few snaps on the sand so popped out whilst our guests enjoyed canapés and had a super quick shoot, it was such a windy day but again the pictures are amazing. I’m so glad we did that. I felt a bit guilty leaving our guests but it was only an hour and gave us both some time to be together and added a fun element to our day.

Best part of the day

We honestly can’t pick one part, the whole day was so amazing. It was just magical from start to finish. Seeing all our dreams and plans come to life and it being so beautiful and everyone having such a great time is pretty special.

From one couple to another

Don’t overthink it. We went to a wedding two weeks before our own and it made us panic that we needed more things but we trusted what we had and how what we had chosen represented us and it paid off. Agree what you want from day one and stick to it.
