Nature & Bohème: Autumn Vibes for an Intimate Wedding in Tuscany

“Things that really should matter in a wedding: love and friendship, respect for the people and the environment…”

Well folks, that’s it – I’m eloping to Tuscany! This editorial is the DREAM. Featuring home-grown and foraged flowers, relaxed vibes, the best of friends and the dreamiest of sunsets… did I mention Il Rigo is in Italy?! I don’t even want to waffle on too much because you just need to keep scrolling, pore over the gorgeous gallery and absorb Luisa’s inspiring accompanying copy…

Notes from the Venue

Luisa says…

Nestled amidst the iconic rolling hills of Tuscany, Il Rigo, and its sustainable hospitality ethic, was the main inspiration for this styled shoot. The food – organic and locally sourced and the flower decoration – grown on site in the cutting garden, blended effortlessly into the setting. We wanted to follow the season and it’s colours, it’s flavours, and the relaxed mood of the wedding party we imagined!

We aimed to create a dreamy, yet relaxed and light-hearted feel, that put love and friendship, respect for the people and the environment at the very centre of the celebration. The models in fact are a group of very talented Tuscan musicians – The Flame Parade – they are also friends of ours who were happy to pose for this shoot, creating a close-knit feeling that I’m sure shines through the pictures!

We went for a warm colour palette, with autumnal tones of rich oranges and earthy browns which stood out on the green front lawn.

We didn’t go for a fancy wedding gown, instead we let the bride, groom and guests wear their own outfits, along with a selection of vintage pieces by Annalisa Brogi, fashion designer and stylist of the band!

Our passion for sustainable living inspired us to create a decor full of recycled ingredients: rusty tomato tins and brown beer bottles, logs and a raw table of wooden boards. This was paired with a simple cotton runner for a minimal table setting that enhanced the beauty of the flowers, the golden sunset and the smiles of the guests! The beautiful detail of the menus and invitations – hand-made recycled paper cards by Carta Muriel – completed this “green” theme and vibe!

Every single flower stem of the arrangements was grown in the farm, by Luisa, owner of Il Rigo and flower enthusiast. Local wild foliage was foraged from the surroundings and together with dried materials, framed the ceremony and dinner table, together with fresh dahlias, cosmos, zinnias and orange marigolds. Autumn was the protagonist with golden foliage and orange flowers in Letizia’s bouquet, complete with showy cafè au lait dahlias, downy oak brunches, white cosmos and pompom dahlia “Sylvia”.

This styled shoot couldn’t have been more real and authentic! We wanted to offer a new and sustainable way to think about weddings, parties and hospitality. We did this by creating a simple and relaxed atmosphere, decorating the ceremony and the table with locally sourced and seasonal organic flowers, arranging them in recycled or vintage containers and preparing a vegetarian and vegan menu – traditional and delicious!

Everything we chose was done with the aim of inviting our potential guests to be more light-hearted and informal, focusing on things that really should matter in a wedding: love and friendship, respect for the people and the environment!
