Hannah & Tim’s Spring Wedding at Rise Hall

Written by Caitlin Hoare
Blossom, bluebells and bridesmaids in powder blue, welcome to H&T’s spring wedding at Rise Hall.

As the cold of winter melts away making way for spring and new beginnings, that’s when wedding season really starts hotting up. Which was the case for Hannah and Tim who got married on the early May bank holiday at luxury Yorkshire country estate, Rise Hall.

Their wedding date, 30th April to be exact, couldn’t be more spring if it tried. They were treated to a bright blue sky, bluebells in the gardens and blossom on the trees which, if you ask me, is everything you want a spring wedding to be, and more! They complemented the season with a bright and breezy palette of blues and whites and enjoyed seasonal cocktails and canapés on the lawn. What a dream!

Their wedding day is a gorgeous reminder of all the wonderful things we have to come. Not long now folks…

Notes from the Bride

Hannah says…

I had always been really intrigued about Rise Hall as a wedding venue ever since we saw the Sarah Beeny documentary series. When we compared Rise Hall to other similar venues, the size of the venue with 31 bedrooms on site and the fact that we could hire the venue for the whole weekend was a winning formula and just what we wanted from our venue. Rise Hall is also close to where my parents live and where I grew up so that was also a big factor in our decision making. It was so special to have so many of our friends and family who travelled to East Yorkshire for the weekend, it meant so much to us that so many of them could stay the night at the venue and extend the celebrations for as long as possible!

We would 100% recommend Dine, Kim & the team at Rise Hall. They were a fantastic support to us over the wedding weekend and in the run up to the wedding day itself. Nothing was too much trouble.

My dress was a bespoke Suzanne Neville gown from The Bespoke Wardrobe in Ingatestone, Essex. I tried on eight very different dresses; my final dress choice was the third option I tried but I decided to customise the bodice. The dress name is ‘Astrid’ but I chose to simplify it slightly with no lace and instead I added a super sparkly Gold Aurora crystal belt from Emmy London which coordinated with my Emmy London halo headband… sparkling delightfully under the light from the Italian crystal chandeliers at Rise Hall.

My veil was made in England by Helen Martin Veils who is based in Norfolk – her veils are absolutely stunning and I kept it on for pretty much the whole day, including my first dance! My wedding shoes were “Harriet Ivory” from Emmy London, and they were super comfortable. I genuinely danced the night away in them!

Our wedding was booked for the first May bank holiday weekend, so considering the time of year we decided to keep the vibe fresh with spring colours. We wanted to make sure that the overall theme for everything we selected was timeless & classic, from the stationery to the suits. Initially we hadn’t booked a stylist but then on speaking with our florist and with Rise Hall, they recommended to book someone. One of my bridesmaids recommended her own wedding stylist, Jen from My Pretties. Thankfully she had availability on our date. Jen is so lovely and was such a fantastic help with the set up and planning process. She has a great eye for detail and completely understood our brief and worked closely with our other suppliers. Her input with the set up really brought everything together and it was super straightforward to organise anything we asked for with Jen.

The appropriately named Wonderland Blooms looked after our wedding flowers. Vix is the most amazingly talented florist – her work ethic is completely admirable. She went above and beyond to create our dream wedding flowers! Vix’s florals are full of movement and natural looking which we loved. She also completely understood our ideas and what we wanted and turned them into the most stunning floral displays. Nothing was too much trouble for her, she never complains and has the most amazing outlook on life! Everyone loved the choice of colours and how we had flowers running right through the venue, bringing our theme to life, both smelling & looking wonderful!!!

Beverley from Grace Eva Cakes was a absolute dream to work with and we have become friends throughout the process of designing our wedding cake! Our inspiration was a hand-painted tiered cake – something quite unusual which we hadn’t seen before but also in keeping with our classic theme. We went for three-tiers with white fondant icing in a square shape with a beautiful blue hand painted floral design and handmade sugar flowers. Absolutely stunning! We kept things classic again with a vanilla & raspberry jam layer and a lemon & raspberry tier in the middle – lighter flavours which we felt were appropriate for the time of year. Our cake both tasted & looked incredible!

Dine at Rise Hall provided all the food and drink throughout our wedding weekend. We picked the Silk Menu option, which was amazing! We had a selection of wines, beers & champagne for the toast. We also chose to have a nightcap service with whisky & wine served in the library for our overnight guests, this was a wonderful touch which our guests loved!

Paul Liddement Wedding Stories was recommended to us by Rise Hall and honestly it was the best decision we could have made. He is SO lovely and made us feel super comfortable. It is quite an unfamiliar feeling having your photograph taken, but Paul blended in so well taking natural photos of people’s reactions, wedding details and capturing emotions. We had a pre-wedding photoshoot with him so we could chat to him about the day and take a few photos so that we felt more relaxed in front of the camera on the day. We recently received back the photos and WOW!!! Just wow. Paul has captured everything so well and we couldn’t be happier with the outcome.

Best part of the day

I was very nervous about the ceremony, in fact it was probably the part I was least looking forward to, but it was so perfect, and it turned out to be one of the most MAGICAL parts of the day! Having everyone we love in one room and saying our vows to one another was the most emotional & joyful moment of our lives. The whole day was perfect though! Everyone says this, but time went way too fast, we wish we could relive the whole day again!

From one couple to another…

We chose to stay the night before the wedding which we would strongly recommend doing as it made us feel like we got the most out of our stay at Rise Hall.

Try and stick to a budget, although it is difficult! Try and plan as much as possible ahead of time so that you can spread the cost – the more you can pay ahead of time the better. Check lead times for the items you need to order ahead – don’t leave things to the last minute!

And just try to relax throughout the planning process, especially on the day! All these little details which might seem like the most important thing ever, you probably won’t even care or notice about on the day.
